Publisher's summary
Daniel Mackenzie lives up to the reputation of the scandalous Mackenzie family - he has wealth, looks, and talent, and women love him. When he meets Violet Bastien - one of the most famous spiritual mediums in England - he immediately knows two things: that Miss Bastien is a fraud, and that he’s wildly attracted to her.
Violet knows she can’t really contact the other side, but she’s excellent at reading people. She discerns quickly that Daniel is intelligent and dangerous to her reputation, but she also finds him generous, handsome, and outrageously wicked. But spectres from Violet’s past threaten to destroy her, and she flees England, adopting yet another identity. Daniel is determined to find the elusive Violet and pursue the passion he feels for her.
Although Violet knows that her scandalous past will keep her from proper marriage, her attraction to Daniel is irresistible. It’s not until Daniel is the only one she can turn to that he proves he believes in something more than cold facts. He believes in love.

I love how Daniel finds love
The Mackenize family is so fascinating. I love that Daniel has found love and a woman who Ioves him and understands the pain he suffered as a child. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

One of the best story lines in the series
This is one of the best story lines of the series, the characters are interesting and the love story is good. The sex is probably the most tame in this book but it's appropriate to the character/story. On to the next one...

The most intriguing of the Mackenzie clan
Daniel Mackenzie has been through the various escapades in each episode of this series. He has gone from a mischievous young imp, to a very thoughtful and attentive young man. He may have gotten into some scrapes, but he was also always available for help, whenever any of his extensive family needed it.
This episode concentrates on his life choices, and the young lady that has captured his heart. As one would expect, she is volatile and enigmatic, but has her own dark secrets that Daniel has to come to terms with.
I personally found this the best, so far of this awesome series.

He is dangerous & broken, she is calm & logical
Juliana St. John, all dressed up and ready to utter "I do's" has been stood-up by her spineless fiance. However, Juliana, poised and self-assured is more concerned about the scandal rather than the heartbreak of losing her betrothed. Elliot McBride, the brother of Ansley, Juliana's closest friend, is catching a quick snooze in one of the church pews at Juliana's wedding. To his surprise, he is startled awake by the weight of none other than the bride herself, sitting on him in an attempt to collect herself before she announces the runaway groom.
I really enjoyed this book. It is simple in its construction, but the characters are so well formed that I loved reading about the interactions between them all, including and especially the supporting cast. Juliana is perfectly matched for Elliot. She is calm, organized, and logical, carrying around a list of to-do's that she uses to meticulously uses while her untamed, spontaneous, and broken husband runs amok. It helps the believability of the story that the two main characters where childhood friends because their loyalty to each other became steadfast quickly and with the events of the book, it needed to be otherwise the relationship would have failed. This is one of the best parts of the story, the loyalty and trust between Elliot and Juliana. That being said, there are a few twists in this tale, giving the novel a lot more substance than just a romance with a HEA. Also, as with all the other Highland Pleasures books, this one has the Mackenzie's and their growing brood around to lend a hand. I love that about this series, being able to see previous characters and a small update into their lives.
Narration:
Narrator: Angela Dawes
Performance: 5/5
Speed: 1.25x
Another excellent performance by Dawes. She reads for the entire series and I am loving the consistency of the voicing. Dawes is great with the accents, the distinction of the various characters in this novel and the pace. Her tone and volume make it easy to listen to through speakers of earphones.

The reader is in a race to the finish
The story is by one of my favorite authors and it does not disappoint. The reader's characters are good but her race to the finish is very distracting and also the way most descriptive sentences and phrases end with the same upward sound. She should listen to one of her own books.

Had Me Falling In Love With The Mackenzie Again
Loved it, Violet is perfect for Daniel and Daniel is perfect for Violet. I did have a hard time with what she did for a living put that's just me hating people taking advantage of people but I did love how their love story was done.

OK….How can you not love a MacKenzie?
I love the MacKenzie men. They are scrumptious. Their only weakness is that when they fall for their women…. they fall hard. I guess it is true that people are drawn to others by beauty first and then kept there by that person’s innate qualities. What a great story of forgiveness, love, sacrifice, and passion all rolled up in one book. If there were no misunderstandings, mistrust and suspicions, all these romance novels would be short-lived and not quite as entertaining. This book has its share of that as well as limb tingling passion. All together worth the credit.

Daniel Grows Up
Any additional comments?
Daniel Mackenzie grows up...if you are familiar with this series we have watched Daniel grow up into an amazing young man...he has learned valuable lessons from his uncles & "his aunties"...Angela Dawe has narrated all of these books & brings them to life in a way that makes you fell like you are in the same room with them...a great story & even better story teller!
