A Damn Good Fantasy Novel

The characters are amazing. The pace and the action is spot on. The crucial moments of the books are built up to, well deserved, powerful, and heartfelt.

AMAZING BOOK!

I really loved this book! The story is great, and the humor is truly wonderful! I would recommend this book to anyone because it is that great. Even if you don't normally read these types of books I guarantee that you'll love this book just as much as I did! This was truly one of three best books I've found on audible, and it was by chance!!!😁

A great listen!!

I’m very fortunate that my work allows me to listen without any reduction in productivity. I listen to about 4 hours of audible per day since 2007. It’s been a godsend in that it makes my day fly by making some of the more mundane tasks fly by. This book is excellent and the narrator first class! If you enjoy lord of the rings, Brandon Sandersons books, even Patrick Obrien, there is a pretty good chance you will enjoy this book. The story line kept me guessing about direction and unlike many others similar story lines, I was not able to guess the final outcome. Just my 2 cents worth.

Liked it.

A little hard to stay focused on the book. it may have been the accent, it may have been the writing style, I don't know. Either way good story. Now on to the next book in the series.

Holy Shnikeys this is a GREAT STORY!

Just listen. Its fantastic. Im no expert but I have read/listened to hundreds of Sword and Sorcery/Epic Fantasy books and very few worlds are able to "wow" me anymore, This has the beginnings of a genius story that looks like it can go on and on without getting boring in the least.

Good story. Great author.

People should not sleep on Michael J Sullivan as he never fails to deliver.
The characters, minor, major, and anything in between, are always interesting. You think you have the character pegged and, bam, you are surprised to learn you are wrong. Or right. Or way off in left field. They are always interesting.
The humor. Good grief the humor is fantastic!
The profanity does not exist and I do not miss it. Some people will understand where I am coming from and some will just be happy of no profanity. I would describe myself as someone who speaks with a healthy dose of profanity. At times I am annoyed when an author uses a safer word when you know they intended the profane word. It is not a deal breaker unless it becomes a fudge this and fudge that constantly. I did not even realize the lack of profanity until I was reading something regarding Michael J Sullivan and he mentioned the choice of not using profanity.
No cringe-y sexual stuff. Hey sex is great, but keep it out of my Fantasy, Science Fiction, Adventure type books unless you can pull it off with no cringe factor.

A good story about a couple of friends, who often find themselves in precarious situations, end up changing the world.
A great story for book groups as there are a lot of characters and ideas to discuss. A book that can easily be discussed with co-workers and family,
