It's time to branch out and find some new material to fill that dragon-shaped hole in your listening life. If you liked Game of Thrones, these epic fantasy books are your next best listen. Some are standalone novels, some are the start of a new series, and others are the first in a completed series. Oh, and they're all excellent. Great fast paced read

Theft of swords built momentum nicely...started off pretty light, soon developed into a complicated, fast paced story. From a basic sword and sorcery heist caper it soon for me felt like Lord of the Rings + Name of the Rose + Game of Thrones but a bit lighter with more humor. Plot is very clever and clearly thought out well in advance. I found it perfect for long runs where a gripping story takes your mind off the pain...I bought the second one as soon as I was done. Highly recommend if you like the genre.

My new favorite author!!

I love this entire series. I have listened to all of it more than once. Michael J Sullivan is severely under appreciated.

This series is a great example of character development done very well. Although the series starts off with the cliche of two opposites who learn from one another, I have to say I enjoyed every second of it. I could listen to their banter all day.

This author is also very talented with tying ends together that could have seemed inconsequential if you weren't paying attention. (Not that there is much useless detail by any means) He also has a series that occurs thousands of years before, beginning with Age of Myth (also amazing!). It doesn't contain big spoilers but does provide amusing easter eggs.

I could continue on with all the things I love about it, but most people don't read the super long reviews. Just download it and thank me later 😊 Keep up the great work Mr. Sullivan (and Robin)!

Love these guys

I could listen to Royce and Hadrian all day. TGR the best fantasy narrator around. The performance was incredible and the story great. Can’t recommend this author and series enough.

I highly recommend this book

Stay with it a couple chapters. I wasn't captivated from the first couple chapters but then the book unfolded and I was hooked. I would go hours at work waiting to get back to it. I am definitely continuing with this series! If you like Star Wars, Dune or the Hobbit you'll like this book!

One of the best unknown books I've ever read.

If you could sum up Theft of Swords in three words, what would they be?

A wonderful story about a pair of exceptional thieves, and the bizarre events they wind up getting entangled in.

What other book might you compare Theft of Swords to and why?

Michael J Sullivan's writing style reminds me of Brandon Sanderson and Patrick Rothfuss. The world is well thought out and the epic journey is similar to series' of the aforementioned authors.

What does Tim Gerard Reynolds bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Tim's reading is well paced, he does a wonderful voice-work, and really gives the words life with his performance.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

'All the they wanted is what's yours'

Any additional comments?

I can't recommend this book enough. I enjoyed it, and it's sequels thoroughly!

Easy Listening

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I'd recommend to a friend. It is a good, easy, clean story where integrity (even among thieves) is the basis for action. I didn't have to listen to careful details and it was enjoyable.
