Not bad, cute actually and entertaining

I didn't know this was a kid's book. I realized that in short order and was irritated, but it turned out to be entertaining and worth the listen.

A very engrossing story. I liked this even better than his other recent book, The Confession.

Good family entertainment

Listener to this on a road trip with our two preteen boys, and everybody loved it and got into the story. Made the trip go by so fast!

Grisham quality, Kid friendly

I honestly wasn't sure what to expect when I saw that John Grisham wrote a book for kids. Not many authors can cross over audiences like that and maintain the same quality of work. I ended up being very impressed. Theodore Boone brings something fresh into the realm of kids books with a multi-faceted story line that will appeal to both younger and older readers alike. I was especially impressed with the way he brought the younger readers into the world of our judicial system with genuine enthusiasm and left out the cynicism. I believed that this is how the best lawyers felt when they were drawn to the law for the right reasons. The main story line involves a sensational murder case, but there were also smaller matters that will feel real to younger readers: a friend going through a custody situation in family court, foreclosure, and even an unlicensed pet in animal court. I wasn't prepared for the abrupt cliffhanger ending, so I hope book two or three won't forget to give us closure on the big case! Grisham has won me over for at least another book. :-)

An added bonus if you pick up the audiobook version: Richard Thomas (aka John-Boy of Walton's fame) is the reader and does a superb job of personifying multiple voices. It's truly a high quality production.

Pretty good listen for a family trip.

It was not bad for a kids book. We listened to it with our 10 and 5 year old. Five year old mostly lost interest by the end and the 10 year old hung on until the end but wasn't riveted. It helped get us through a five hour drive but we didn't LOVE it.

Great story!

Very entertaining! Listened with my granddaughter and we both enjoyed it. She was frustrated by not getting to hear the new trial, but otherwise loved it.

My students loved the Theodore Boone Kid Lawyer. We learned a lot about court rooms, lawyers and investigations. They had fun following the clues and deciding who really did it. We recommend this book for anyone who would like to read a good mystery.

Great Book

Loved it and the narration. Couldn't stop listening to it. Recommended for all the ages.

Not just for young people

I had heard that John Grisham had written a series of books for young adults. So I read this book. It was fun and interesting. A quick read and good story.

audiobook is mixed poorly

the guy kept getting too quiet, so I'd turn it up, then he'd start shouting and blow out my eardrums. very frustrating.
