About this listen

Is it possible to believe in both God and the law of attraction? A core argument of Rhonda Byrne's best-selling book The Secret, the law of attraction says that thoughts are magnetic. Anyone can have whatever they want, be it good health, wealth, or even relationships. They need only train their minds to dwell on what they desire. But is this true?

In this companion audiobook to the current media storm, author Ed Gungor believes there is more to the story. Respecting the real needs that have caused so many to seize on Byrne's program of mental self-help, Gungor uncovers a more accurate representation of the power of the mind by examining the role God plays in the equation. His goal is not to attack but to correct what he says is misguided advice in a manner both compassionate and compelling. His results may surprise you!

Responsible perspective

This is the first Christian writer I have seen that actually tried to explore what The Secret and more importantly the law behind it is all about. I did see a few unnecessary digs where maybe he didn't have a good rebuttal, or where The Secret was vague and shallow. I didn't feel like I was doomed to eternal damnation for exploring the world around me. Over all it is a responsible second perspective. As with any book read with an open mind and the aim to strengthen your own understanding, and not to blindly be told what to think. You will walk away better for it.

Excellent - A must read for all Christians

The writer makes it clear that the law of attraction, meditation and visulization are all found in the bible in one form or another, and that they can be used for good living not just for material stuff. Christians that condem all of this type of thinking as new age will have their eyes opened to the truth. Very clear and well presented.

Finally a proper explanation

For years I've been trying to understand how the law of attraction works and if it is contradictory to God.
After years of exploring I had come to understand that the law of attraction is also created and set by God and we Christians need not fear or worry that it is some 'new age' thing.
Ed has now proven this using scripture to back up the arguments and has provided the missing links that other non - Christian LoA teachers omit as they do not have a full and foundational understanding rather understand just what needs to be done procedurally to get the result.
Affirmations and visualisation are tools to prime your brain to focus on the process and the end goal. The feeling that things are 'magically' attracted to you is the fact that with the above tools your brain is primed to notice the tools that help is achieving goals.
Ed also notes the crucial aspect for believers is to ensure that the goals we choose, serve others and glorify God rather than just for self fulfilment and self gratification.
All in all, great book by Ed. Thanks. Would've saved me years of deep exploration to see if LoA is Godly.
