Story
In a rarified world of scientific research, a revolution has been brewing. Its activists are not anarchists, but rather Nobel Laureates in physics and economics and pony-tailed graduates, mathematicians, and computer scientists from all over the world. They have formed an iconoclastic think-tank and their radical idea is to create a new science: complexity. They want to know how a primordial soup of simple molecules managed to turn itself into the first living cell--and what the origin of life some four billion years ago can tell us about the process of technological innovation today.

Story
In 2014, the world witnessed the start of a mysterious series of cyberattacks. Targeting American utility companies, NATO, and electric grids in Eastern Europe, the strikes grew ever more brazen. They culminated in the summer of 2017, when the malware known as NotPetya was unleashed, penetrating, disrupting, and paralyzing some of the world's largest businesses—from drug manufacturers to software developers to shipping companies. At the attack's epicenter in Ukraine, ATMs froze. The railway and postal systems shut down. Hospitals went dark.

'This is my safety'
Any additional comments?
This is a great course indeed, as others have mentioned it stays more on a legal side than a technical side, but does cover alot of topics with just enough detail.
If your after a technical view, stick to kindle, machine code and programming code dont translate well to an audio book format (not that there are any in this book).
If you want a great overview, a look at where we are heading, social and legal impacts and some great stories (i.e stuxnet) then this course is for you.

Made me think
This is a good overview of cybersecurity; not too technical as an audio book is not well suited in my opinion for very technically complex material. It is a thoughtful and thorough perspective of internet security and tackles some of the issues, such as privacy, that our societies will need to deal with, whether some of us want it or not.
I am not an expert in the field and this opened my eyes to cybersecurity and the cyber world.

Knowing the threats helps your odds of surviving
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. Though slightly dated (the cyber world changes by the minute), most of the concepts Prof. Rosenzweig talks about remain with us. He explains them well. He discusses exactly what we can do about them.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Thinking about Cybersecurity: From Cyber Crime to Cyber Warfare?
Several come to mind. The examples of Stuxnet and other specific bugs, worms, Trojan horses, etc. that actually occurred and will continue to occur, how they affected the targets, how they affected and may affect us.
Which character – as performed by Professor Paul Rosenzweig – was your favorite?
N/A
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, it takes time to absorb some of the complexities. At times, I even wanted to repeat a session for improved clarity.
Any additional comments?
If you use a computer in any way, listen to this course. It may save you some distress. It might even save your life.

I am glad I bought this course
What made the experience of listening to Thinking about Cybersecurity: From Cyber Crime to Cyber Warfare the most enjoyable?
I found the topic of this course of lectures absolutely fascinating. I admit that I know little of computers and cyber security, so these lectures were very beneficial for me. Professor Rosenzweig is a great narrator which makes listening to his words even more enjoyable.
What other book might you compare Thinking about Cybersecurity: From Cyber Crime to Cyber Warfare to and why?
Can't think of any at the moment, but I will definitely read and learn more on this subject.
What about Professor Paul Rosenzweig’s performance did you like?
The way he talks and explains fully grabs your attention.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, it was.
Any additional comments?
I learned a lot from this course. If there are any more courses of professor Rosenzweig, I will find and buy them.

Comprehensive an interesting
This is a very comprehensive an interesting course. It is also extremely relevant even though it was done a few years ago. For those who have an interest in cyber security or computing generally, you will get a lot out of this course. For those who are new to this world, you will still find the course useful but some parts of it maybe slightly advanced. However, the professor does a great job of explaining things even to the neophytes.

While I use the Internet daily I lack a basic knowledge on how it operates and the issues associated with it. This lecture series was great in explaining how the Internet works and many issues associated with security and operation of this vast network on which we depend.
