Better than London Calling...

I could not finish listening to London Calling, but this one was better, more interesting.
Narration was great on both of them.
Going for the third book in the series...

Good read!

Lots of action and angst to engage the reader. I was pulling for the main characters, who did not have a bumpless ride.

Nice, enjoyable listen

I very much enjoyed this book. It's only my second audiobook and I very much enjoyed this narrator. She's was excellent. It was a light enjoyable rom com. I haven't read the other books in the series but I'd like to. The only negative is that I felt it ended very abruptly. But overall a good read (or listen).

The Perfect Romantic Comedy

I love how Clare Lydon can put humor into everything. Her books are like a sitcom on steroids. You get funny characters, hilarious conversations, and lots of embarrassing situations. This book, in particular, had so many crazy twists and ironic connections in it...and when I finally realized it and started trying to guess what would happen next, she goes and throws something in from left field.

The narrator was decent, not great. I'm not sure if it was the accent or something else about the voices that she changed, but for me, being American and struggling a bit with the pronunciation and the non-American words, I found that I couldn't distinguish most of the characters at first, and I also ended up having to rewind quite a few times at the beginning of the book to re-listen because I didn't grasp a particular word or phrase.

All in all, I give this book 5 stars - well worth reading and a great pick-me-up book with lots of laughter...and just enough tension and bad stuff to make it all worthwhile.

Sweet & Funny Love Story

This London Love is a sweet and funny love story with two great leads in Kate and Meg who have plenty of chemistry, witty dialogue, and a wee bit of baggage between them. It was a fun adventure watching these (star crossed) lovers traverse their histories, daily life, and a few obstacles to find their way together with the help and occasionally hindrance of their family and friends. Emily Bennet does a great job on the narration.

London out does Paris for lesbian love

This is the second book in the London series. Clare Lydon has done such a wonderful job of creating characters that are believable and well developed. This is a stand alone but is mildly woven with snippets of activity from the first book. Kate and Megan repeatedly have roadblocks in their attempts to become involved. All of the characters have relationship angst and they are all so individual there is not a boring or slow moment in this book. It is the realistic and emotional way that this process is shared that makes this such a good book. Emily Bennet does a wonderful job of narrating and I am a sucker for a good British accent. I am looking forward to the next novel.

Mad About This Book

When it comes to romantic comedy, Clare Lydon is at the top of the list as far as I am concerned and this is my favorite book of hers.

This is book two in Lydon's London Series, but it can certainly be listened to as a stand-alone. The story revolves around Kate and Meg who both feel like they have been single for way too long. Kate is a successful editor with drive and a quick wit (and a propensity for falling down around beautiful women). Meg is a sweet florist who radiates grace and kindness while being sexy as hell. Of course she doesn't realize she is sexy as hell which makes her character all the more endearing. Both of them have recently suffered broken hearts so they begin their courtship slowly, but drama soon invades their lives (as it happens in any good romance) and makes them question if there is going to be a happily ever after in their future.

Lydon has a very easy going writing style and her prose is smooth with a great British sense of humor. I like the way she moves from one character's point of view to the other's which for some authors seems to be illusive. I really enjoyed the two main characters and they seemed very believable. Their witty banter is delightful and their pairing seemed spot on. I had a silly grin on my face throughout the entire audiobook.

Kate and Meg fit together like peas and carrots and their chemistry is hot, hot, hot. The ancillary characters are really fleshed out as well which isn't always the case in many romance novels. I think this was due in part because I already knew a few of them from reading "London Calling"

I would recommend this audiobook not just because the characters are so engaging, but there are a couple of plot twists that I was definitely not expecting which made this narrative much more interesting than your average romance. As far as I'm concerned, there were no down sides to this audiobook.

The narrator did a good job conveying the characters' change in moods and her delivery on the funny bits was spot on.

Note: The sound quality of the actual audiobook is far superior to the sample that is offered here.
