Publisher's summary

Dr. David Lawrence has spent the last two years atoning for his sins and recovering from the devastating breakup with Gansett Island golden girl Janey McCarthy. As the island's only doctor, he's had ample opportunity to show his fellow island residents that there's more to him than the guy who disappointed Janey so profoundly. Now if only he could find a way to forgive himself, he might be able to move on with his life without the woman he'd expected to love forever...

Daisy Babson, probationary director of housekeeping at McCarthy's Gansett Island Inn, is in bad need of a fresh start after her relationship with Truck Henry took a violent turn, leaving her battered and broken-in more ways than one. As she recovers from her injuries, her days are made brighter by her visits with David Lawrence. The kind and caring doctor who tended to her after the attack has become much more than a friend to her in recent weeks.

Will these two wounded hearts take comfort from one another and move forward on a new path toward love together? Or will ghosts from the past derail them before they get the chance for their own happily ever after?

Catch up with many of your favorite characters from earlier books in the McCarthys of Gansett Island Series, and get set for another summer of love on Gansett!

Dr David redeemed

I love how Daisy and David grow! How the McArthy's help David to forgive himself and how this family of friends welcomes me back every time a new book is opened!

Great story line. Very, very, very BAD narrator.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

You couldn't tell one character from the next. Her voice is very monotoned. She sounded like she wasn't into the story at all.

Predictable but enjoyable

I enjoyed this listen as part of the series but probably wouldn't bother with it as a stand alone. The story is predictable, which is somewhat understanding since it is part of a 10+ book series but the main characters lacked the strength of connection seen in previous books. This was due in part to Daisy who came across as weak and needy which are personality traits I try to avoid when choosing a book in this genre.

Narrator.

Holly Fielding is the worse narrator I have ever listened to and I have and do listen to a lot of books. I usually end up reading the books and wasting money on narration. A narrator can make or break the best of books. I tried listening to Treading on Water and the same thing. Her voice almost never seems to change. It is like she is reading a boring to the readers.
I would really would like a credit for both of these books as I love Marie Force but feel ripped off by this.

Good series - poor narrator

I love this series but do not like the narrator. She mispronounces words, occasionally fails to differentiate characters and lacks emotion to reflect the authors words. Several years ago I started this series but stop listening due to the narrator. I hope the author chooses different a narrator.
