About this listen

Lauraine Snelling Launches New Red River Valley Series

Trygve Knutson has been promoted from well drilling to heading a construction crew for the fast growing town of Blessing, North Dakota. Though devoted to the land and his family, he sometimes dreams of other horizons. But is he willing to leave Blessing permanently? Miriam Francini hopes to become an accredited nurse in a large city hospital. She is simply tolerating her assignment at the hospital in rural Blessing because it will give her the experience she needs to accomplish her goal. She can't wait to finish her training and head to New York to begin a nursing career. Then Miriam meets Trygve Knutson and all her plans are suddenly in a jumble. She quickly realizes she doesn't want to live without him, yet she's a smart, independent woman - she's even a suffragette. She can't let anything get in the way of her own plans, even if she's in love. Or can she?

wonderful story

This is a good read. Slow start but wait for it. You won’t be able to put it down. You may need a notebook for all the names to keep straight but the characters grab hold of you and you will be able to do so.

Wanted to finish the story

If I had known that the author left so many things hanging for the next book, I would have waited until both were out. I loved the story, would have given it 5 stars except for what wasn't concluded. I think each book should be basically a complete story in and of itself, even if a person never reads another in the series.

It’s such a moving story

This was my favorite book so far. I laughed and I sobbed. I love all these people and can picture people I’ve grown up with in their characters.

Change is in the air

The main characters all have some form of change to deal with in this story. Lauraine always pulls together a real life struggle and develops the many opportunities we have to face them with or without the hand of God working all things together for our good.

Classic Lauraine Snelling!

I loved this story almost as much as the original Red River books. It was like visiting with old friends. Stina is such an excellent narrator too. I would give it 10 stars if I could!
