Story
Spencer Quinn’s first original audio short story reveals how everyone’s favorite detective duo - Chet the Dog and P.I. Bernie Little - came to meet before their first big case in Dog On It. As fans know, Chet first met Bernie on that fateful day when he flunked out of K-9 police school. The details of that day, though, have always remained a little vague (like so much in Chet’s doggy brain). All we know is that Chet had been the best leaper in his K-9 class, but for some reason he failed his final leaping test...and that a cat was involved...and that there was some blood. But whose?

Story
Iggy is a dog who doesn’t get out much, so it’s big news when elderly Mr. Parsons knocks on Bernie’s door to say that Iggy has vanished. In the search for Iggy, Chet and Bernie find Mrs. Parsons unconscious on her bedroom floor, in need of urgent medical care. But it’s only when they arrive at the hospital that things get really interesting. With a jewel thief making short work of hospital patients’ valuables, it seems that Iggy is not alone in disappearing right out from under somebody’s nose. Suspects are plentiful and witnesses are few.

But whose?

Just Fun
Love these pretty simple stories told from Chet's (the dog's) point of view. Light reading, a little angst, happy ending . . . all's well with the world - more or less.

Excellent Read For Those Who Have Dogs
Would you consider the audio edition of To Fetch a Thief to be better than the print version?
Only people who own dogs could appreciate what goes through Chet's ever changing mind. We really do want to know what goes in their little pea brains sometimes and even if the story isn't as strong as people would like it is really enjoyable. This is a book that makes you laugh out loud at times and the story line is pretty good, but that's not the point. Books should be enjoyed on your interest in the book and not on others. I have read/listen to many books that got terrible reviews and completely enjoyed them while others that got rave reviews were completely, utterly awful! So to each their own. This is a very good series, just don't get too serious about it.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Chet of course! Brilliant mind, ever calculating. Wait! That is really Bernie.
What about Jim Frangione’s performance did you like?
I have always thought his reading of any novel was very good.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Nothing really

Spencer Quinn must actually be a Dog
If you could sum up To Fetch a Thief in three words, what would they be?
Mysterious Canine Adventure
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Spencer Quinn's Chet and Bernie so far has really kept the action moving from begging to end of each book. It's always moving, Just like the wagging tall of my pooch.
Which scene was your favorite?
So many, but when Chet is being sympathetic to Popo the clown. Also when Chet saves Bernie AGAIN from being attacked and most likely beaten to death. A most loyal friend.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Chet's ability to read people. The good ones and the bad ones. How Chet responds to the emotions of humans around him, even though he doesn't understand.
Any additional comments?
This series, is from a dog's point of view. If you are not a dog lover, it won't be for you. However if you adore canines as I do, your credit won't be wasted.
