"Nina Jarrett has done it! The despicable Earl from her first book, The Duke Wins a Bride, has finally met his match." - Sonia (MetraHarvard).

Sophia and the Earl

Lord Richard Balfour is the consummate rake. Having lost his potential bride to his cousin the Duke of Halmesbury, he is again looking for a wife. The insipid debutantes he has found at balls are not what he wants. Miss Sophia Hayward appears to be one of those debutantes. Sophia does not wish to marry, so she puts an act to put potential suitors off. Richard changes his mind about Sophia when he hears her talk about the cad he is. Shocked at her description of him, he decides two things. One, he will change his ways, and two, he will woo Sophia. When she discovers that there is a plot afoot to force her to marry a horrid man for her dowry, she agrees to marry Richard for protection. How will their union work out? This is an entertaining book with likeable characters (except the villains, of course). There is a lot of humor, a rather dangerous mystery, a twist and turn or two, a steamy romance, and a happy ending. It is a great addition to the series. Narration was enjoyable.
