Publisher's summary

Second chances are hard enough when you deserve them. Then there are the ones you don't.

Callie asked if I was ready. And that's the question, isn't it? Ready for what? The spotlight? The music? Or ready for life. Ready to face the reality that what I was is going to attack the very fabric of who I am now.

No one knows I'm a different person. Well, no one except the two most important people in my life, which is why there's a remote chance I might actually pull off the comeback I never saw coming.

Then again, that was before Holland Drake crashed into my life. I didn't ask for her. Heaven knows she didn't ask for me. But sometimes, it's not about what makes sense; it's about accepting that not everything will. It's learning you have a choice when it feels like you don't. It's believing even the worst past can still have a future.

And sometimes, it's none of that. Sometimes, it's survival. A blind fight through the pain as you cling to any shred of hope you can find. And it's those moments, those desperate pleas into the darkness for a flicker of light, when you have no choice but to confront the blessing that often feels like a curse: You're still alive. You're still significant.

You're once again Luke Craven, front man for Night Shifts Black.

Contains mature themes.

🎧 Narration: This book is narrated in single narration with only the mmc POV. Alex Kydd did a great job with the emotional range for the mmc, Luke, in this audio. The way he bled every emotion into his voice during the story felt very raw & kept me wrapped up in the storyline the whole time i was listening. I enjoyed his voice for Holland as well - it wasn’t too high or “fake” girly sounding. I did think it was strange that in the previous book Luke was described as having an accent & in this book it’s mentioned a few times but it wasn’t narrated with the british/south african accent described. I listened on 2.2 & Alex was very easy to understand & it did not interrupt the cadence of his voice. The production was very well done & i didn’t hear any flaws. Overall i felt like the audio enhanced the story.

this book had me a complete chokehold the whole time i listened. i absolutely could not put it down & stayed up until 2am to finish it. i loved luke in night shifts black but the raw version of luke we got from his pov in this story was so. damn. good. this was such a beautiful story of healing from your past, growing as a person & learning to love again even with your broken parts. luke & holland had hot hot hot tension but it was their quiet moments & the way they always kept trying to hold the other up that had me so in love. i felt like the forced proximity of the tour really helped move the storyline along & i loved that we got to see all of luke’s pain & him trying so hard. their love story was perfection. i cannot wait to dive into book three.

I loved this book when I first read it but hearing Alex Kydd (my favorite narrator) read it was amazing!

Beautiful and mesmerizing

I felt the emotional weight lifted from the impact that NSB left. Seriously, it took months for that book to wear off, and TH provided that dose of medicine that kicked me into an all-new frenzy.
You'll never experience rock star romance like this until you read Aly's writing. Her words pack a punch, and the lyrics are beautiful and mesmerizing.

Luke and Holland's story made the butterflies in my stomach flutter. Watching their friendship build over the admiration for one another was what took hold of my heart. The two musical composers had very different backgrounds. Yet, they are equally talented. What I loved most was that everything that tore Luke apart, Holland's character was there to ground him and hold him up. I was overjoyed by their happy ending.

As always, I read along to the narration done by Alex Kydd. Just WOW! This narrator hit me with all the feels with his performance. Go grab this up, guys. You don’t want to miss out on this amazing series!

a long book about a rockstars forgiving himself

this book was so long and the male voice was the same monotone through out the book that I felt tired or fell a sleep. for a rockstar book there was hardly any sexual content .
