Publisher's summary

On a busy Washington morning, the stately calm of the White House is shattered in a deadly terrorist attack on the executive mansion. The president is evacuated to an underground bunker, but not before nearly 100 hostages are taken.

Mitch Rapp, the CIA’s top counterterrorism operative, is sent in to take control of the crisis and determines that the president is not as safe as Washington’s power elite had thought. Indeed, Rapp has made a chilling discovery that could rock Washington to its core: someone within his own government wants his rescue attempt to fail.

Hear Mitch Rapp, the CIA's top operative, battle global terrorism in more of Vince Flynn's political thrillers.

Critic reviews

"Endless intrigue... Flynn mixes in a spicy broth of brutal terrorists, heroic commandos, and enough secret-agent hijinks to keep the confrontation bubbling until its flag-raising end." ( Publishers Weekly)
" Transfer of Power emerges in its sense of authenticity, depth of research, and almost seamless dramatic scenario....One of Flynn's finest skills as an up-and-coming young master of the genre of political thrillers is his ability to create a cast of compelling characters." ( Bookpage)

the realistic nature and believable storylineof this fictional thriller.

I dislike the performer's representation of the female voices. His character 's voices are too masculine and it is difficult to imagine that they are attractive when they sound like 40 year old truck drivers in drag.

Writing style

Will written. Great dialogue. Great historical content with real dialogue. Exceptional knowledge and reporting of location with exceptional presentation of the White House and district of DC area.

Segue of detail

Liked the idea of an ingenious design to the White House. Fan of Rapp.
Potholes of details eroded the the road (of the plot). Not a super analogy but I found myself hitting fast forward often.

Great Story-Bad Narration

I've read just about all of the Vince Flynn books. Transfer of Power was one of my favorites. Mitch Rapp at his best. My only complaint is the narration. Nick Sullivan's version of Rapp's voice doesn't come close to how Flynn presents him in the stories. They need to use George Guidall. He does a great job and his voices match the character being portrayed in the book.

transfer of power

I read several reviews prior to selecting this book that said the reader was far short of top notch. I found the book to be very enjoyable and the reader everything I expected.

Good book, terrible narrator

I enjoy this series of books, the characters, and the story twists, but Nick Sullivan is by far the worst dramatic narrator I've heard. He's developed terrible ( and superficially stereotyped ) voices, without much understanding of the storyline, and no acting ability. It's very tough to listen through. He may be good with non-fiction, non-dramatic narration, but not here. I'm not looking forward to the next book.
