Publisher's summary
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • In the fourth novel of the Iron Druid Chronicles, two-thousand-year-old Druid Atticus O’Sullivan must pay his debts to cunning trickster god Coyote, a task that includes battling undead creatures of the night as well as a relentless hound of Hel and the goddess of death who commands it.
“[Kevin] Hearne is a terrific storyteller with a great snarky wit. . . . Neil Gaiman’s American Gods meets Jim Butcher’s Harry Dresden.”—SFFWorld
Cutting a deal with a trickster god rarely goes well for any human brave or foolish enough to try it, but Atticus doesn’t feel like he has a choice. With members of the Norse pantheon out for his blood, he can’t train his apprentice in peace, so he asks Coyote to help him fake his own death. The cost, however, might wind up being every bit as high as if he’d made no deal at all.
There are things hiding in the Arizona desert that don’t want any company, and Coyote makes sure they know Atticus has arrived. And then there's the hound of Hel, Garm, who’s terribly difficult to shake and not at all convinced that Atticus is dead.
Being tricked by a trickster is par for the course. But it’s the betrayal from someone he thought was a friend that shakes Atticus to the core and places his life in jeopardy. The real trick, he discovers, might be surviving his own faked death.
Includes Kevin Hearne’s novella “Two Ravens and One Crow”

A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

That you can immediately hit play and re-enter a beloved new world, or love story, or era from history is a gift to the devoted listener. But how to pick just 100 of these unique and immersive listening journeys? We defined a series as having a minimum of three books, and—after some debate—we decided the titles had to be anchored in fiction. From YA to horror to historical fiction, from fresh voices to seminal tales, hours of discovery await.

A letdown
If you’ve listened to books by Kevin Hearne before, how does this one compare?
I have read and listened to all of the Iron Druid series books. This book is the weakest. Quite frankly, I had a difficult time getting to the end. The culture references are getting old, and his eco-preaching is tiresome. Oberon's input is getting harder to like.
What does Luke Daniels bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Luke Daniels is an excellent narrator. However, he has changed his rendering of Oberon in this book, so Oberon sounds more like Scooby Doo. Not a good change.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I got really, really tired of the interaction between Atticus and Oberon.
Any additional comments?
I hope the next book is better - I will be checking it out of the library, though - just in case.

Keep getting better and better!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I have read the first 3 books and liked them, and though the first books were lacking in the story line and storytelling, the series is getting better and better.
Its' really becoming quite imaginative and enthralling, and I become more and more attached to the characters (especially Oberon!).
What did you like best about this story?
I liked the setting! Middle of the desert, great monsters wonderful characters and the book is both light and flowing.
What about Luke Daniels’s performance did you like?
I think that Luke is true to the characters and story from the first book and as the books keep getting better I feel his performance is keeping pace

I ❤️Luke Daniels!
Luke Daniels is absolutely amazing! His ability to change his voice for each character blows my mind still. My favorite voice, by far, is Oberon!

LoveThis Series!
Where does Tricked rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Fun, fun, fun! For a fun listen, this is it!
What other book might you compare Tricked to and why?
None....it is that different! Did I already say fun?
Which scene was your favorite?
Any part with Oberon!
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Oberon....his simple way of viewing the world and love of meat and girl poodles. I am glad to see our main characters moving into a more romantic relationship!
Any additional comments?
I get in the mood for something that is less intense and the Iron Druid series does this! The narrator is wonderful!

The boys are back!
What made the experience of listening to Tricked the most enjoyable?
The developing relationship of teacher and apprentice. They are becoming a team which is fun. Any scene with Oberon is fantastic! Sausages!
What other book might you compare Tricked to and why?
Bite me, by Christopher Moore, because it is fun and funny and just because someone does something that may appear wrong doesn't make them evil.
Have you listened to any of Luke Daniels’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes, all of the previous Iron Druid books. This book falls right in line with the rest, fantastic and fun.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I did break out laughing in the middle of Costco!

Oberon is front and center!
I just love this series. This is not a stand alone book, you would be lost without reading (or listening) to them in order. Great story, kept my attention all the way through. The narrator Luke Daniels is awesome, by turns serious, sly, amused and yes, even slightly goofy! I may need my own snuggle-bunny lol
I can't wait for book five.
