Some of the true crime murder cases profiled in this volume can only be described as bizarre. You will be introduced to Elifasi Msomi, a failed Zulu witch doctor who became a notorious serial killer, notorious for keeping some of his victims' blood for various rituals. You will also hear about two potential curses that sent many of the people involved with their respective cases to early graves. Finally, the strange case of Robert Dirscherl is profiled. The authorities initially ruled Dirscherl's death a suicide, but after several decades it now appears that the death may be a case of true murder and not suicide.

If you are interested in learning more about man's dark side, then start listening to this book. But be warned, some of the murder stories you will hear about will be shocking and disturbing. Despite being disturbed by many of these cases, you will also find this volume extremely intriguing and exciting!

As I normally don't like the short stories I find that I am still drawn to this author's books. Great detail in few words.

Scarier than any scary movie...

Would you consider the audio edition of True Crime Stories, Volume 6 to be better than the print version?

As I haven't read the print version it's difficult to say, but I like this audio edition a lot.

What other book might you compare True Crime Stories, Volume 6 to and why?

Well,I can't compare it to an English book as I haven't read or listened to any of that type in English before, but I can compare it to a Polish book I read a few years ago (entitled "Pitawal warszawski", which roughly translates to "Warsaw True Crimes" :)), which related a set of true crimes that were commited in Poland's capital city of Warsaw (or the area nearby) in the 1920s and 1930s. Both books have the same structure and feel to them: they state facts and present opinions of people involved in the investigations, and sometimes their authors comment on the crimes themselves and the consequences and input of those crime on the society... Both are interesting and kind of scary in showing the cruelty and the beastly side of the human nature...

What does Terry Jenkins bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I think the fact that I heard the stories, not just read them, made them more real to me and much much scarier... Generally, when I read a book, I subconsciously put what I read about in the "fiction" box in my mind, even if I know I'm reading about real-life events. Somehow they don't feel real because they are in the form of a book and books equal fiction... But when I hear a story narrated to me by someone it always rings truer, it's real, it evokes a much more emotional reaction from me... I can't explain it better...

Mr Jenkins' narration added to that feeling of reality for me... He was factual, not emotional, in the way he read the stories, which allowed me, the listener, to concentrate entirely on the facts related and not on his voice/interpretation. I liked that a lot. The pace was also good, not too fast but not too slow, either. Generally, I liked that interpretation of the book a lot.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, ‘The Torture and Murder of Sylvia Likens’ was the one story that I found particularly disturbing. I don't understand people who intentionally inflict pain and harm on others but to do that to a child is unthinkable for me... It goes against all my instincts, that's why Sylvia's story is the one that I find the most horrible in this volume...

True Crime Stories Volume 6: 12 Shocking True Crime Murder Cases by Jack Rosewood was another great Read by the author. This anthology follows twelve crimes that baffled all investigators. There are many different cases from around the world. I can't wait to read more by Jack Rosewood.

These types of rapid nonfiction books are the best! They include FASCINATING stories, interesting facts and details that I had never heard before and personal correspondences from either the murderer and/or victims.

I love how precise the author is, but at the same time includes details that are truly interesting for the reader. I have read/listened another volume and it was just as great!

Would you listen to True Crime Stories, Volume 6 again? Why?

Yes, the crimes are set out from good backgrounds, portraits of the murderers, good explanations of the crimes, and follow ups after prosecutions. Each crime is briefly covered but completely so. This is only three hours long, but it's amazing how much information is included!

What other book might you compare True Crime Stories, Volume 6 to and why?

Other Jack Rosewood anthologies. For obvious reasons why: subject matter and author with diverse choice of murders. Mr Rosewood does another fine job here!

What about Terry Jenkins’s performance did you like?

Easy to hear, easy to understand, good pace, no mouth noises etc. Occasionally he tended to over emphasize - for example, the name "Msomi". A minor quibble on my part though. Overall, a good listen!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Some people are just evil!

Another enjoyable listen in the True Crime genre. Enough details to satisfy my interest in each crime. Enjoyable narration.

An observation I made in a previous review of Book 5 in this series: "Jack Rosewood hits the sweet spot with his True Crime anthology series. All that is missing in other such books, he incorporates in succinct manner. You get a feel for the individuals, a brief on why the police focused in on the guilt of the criminal and the outcome of the court cases."
