Publisher's summary

Bloodthirsty vamps. Dire wolf royalty. The prince of unicorns. What's next? All-out war of course.

When I came to Prosper Woods, the last thing I expected was to be walking into a world of magic. Horror movies at the theater hadn’t prepared me for the realization that vampires, werewolves, witches, shifters, and ghosts were real. After six months, I’ve learned to live with it, and I count many odd creatures as friends, not to mention my soul mate, a vampire who makes me tremble when he kisses me.

I’m hopelessly, helplessly in love.

When I came to Prosper Woods, my expectations were low. I brought Robert’s bones, numerous possessions, and regret for my role in my maker’s sheer blood lust. I also brought Robert’s ancient tomes. When Sergio showed up demanding I give him the books, I banished him with the help of a spell and a friendly witch. I never expected those books to be the source of danger to my man and our life together.

I’m hopelessly, helplessly in love.

When the vampire came to town, I knew things were going to change. What I didn’t expect was to become alpha of my pack and fall in love with my best friend. Werewolf royalty moved into town, bad vampires were about to go to war with us, and the biggest surprise of all: The unicorns had a king of their own. I don’t know what’s about to happen, but I want to avoid war. With Sam by my side, I’m pretty sure I can face anything. Because I’m hopelessly, helplessly in love.

Narrator John Solo rocks the heck out of this!

No one writes a better fight scene than Patricia Logan! From bunnies doling out a major beatdown to vampire-supernatural free-for-all brawl, our author keeps us on the edge of the excitement and in stitches with laughter, too! In True Order: Prosper Woods Chronicles Book 4, the autumn carnival comes to town and our Sheriff makes friends with the owner (Tal O'Neil, an owl shifter) of the very well-managed operation. She introduces him to three super-shifters from long ago to assist Prosper Woods with the Conclave of Eight--the council of ancient vampires that are ruling on the death of Sergio's progeny (Harvey Miller) who was beheaded in the altercation at the Broadmoor's home. As a friend of Vincent, Greg intends to join in any fight to keep him, his mate Romeo, and Prosper Woods safe. But Sam points out that his position as pack leader mandate that he brings the entire pack on board with Vampire business as the outcome will affect them all.
In addition to how different human blood tastes, translations of the books left by Vincent's sire indicate that he was vampire royalty. This makes Vincent the current vampire king, a fact others may not want to be known. When the Conclave holds court, Sergio calls for a forfeit of his life and all his worldly possessions given to him in recompense. This includes the tomes that also delineate a way for vampires to avoid true death. After an unexpected vampire witness comes forward with information that Vincent killed Harvey Miller in self-defense, there is a major brawl that includes the entire Prosper Woods gang. When the dust clears, all but two vampires of the Conclave are truly dead and they are sent off to warn all vampires away from Prosper Woods--home of the vampire king!
Ms. Logan is a crafty writer and this is a brilliant example of her gift. She manages to keep everything about the series new and absolutely thrilling. She moves readers from scene to scene with excellent pacing of events: warm and fuzzy love scenes, laugh-out-loud hilarity, also nail-biting, edge-of-the-seat action! I dreaded the end of this series only to discover that our author will be revisiting Prosper Woods' wolves! Narrator John Solo is awesome in his performance for all the books in this series and I'm glad he has been commissioned for the new series as well. 😍

enjoyed it

📖 Story comment: Good pace, likeable characters, good conclusion.
The characters in this series have been interesting and showed good growth and development, the random introduction of a couple of characters felt like an "easy save" and I feel like I still have questions. but overall the series has kept me entertained and that's all I need to be happy.
[Needs to be listened to as part of the series for best enjoyment.]

🎧 Narrator comment: I enjoy John Solo as a narrator, there were times I nudged up the native speed to 1.1x speed just to help increase the tension of a scene, but for the most part he has good cadence, inflections and intonations, he has a good variety of character accents, there is consistency from the earlier books and it was easy to distinguish the characters from each other. Overall an enjoyable performance.

Finally, the bad guys get what's comping to them.

I am saddened that this series is over, but am glad that we will have a spin-off with Castor's book coming next year. These books cannot be read as stand-alone & need to be read in order. This final book picks up right after the ending of the last book. Vincent has received word that the conclave of eight is on their way to put him on trial for killing Sergio's progeny in the last book. Vincent is sure he knows how this will end, with the true death. He makes a bone headed decision that he is going to distance himself from his mate to hopefully spare him & turn himself back into a monster to spare the town. I'm glad that both Sid & Rome made him see the light. There are some big surprises on who comes to help them in their battle. I'm not going to spoil it to tell you who/what they are. The battle was a bloody affair, and the good guys do not come out unscathed. We also finally find out what is in those books that were passed down to Vincent after the death of his sire Robert. Let us say, there are a lot of royals living in Prosper Woods. One of my most favorite things about this series is the beginning of each chapter with the "letters to the editor", they crack me up. I highly recommend this series.

John Solo does an amazing job narrating this series & I can't wait for the spin-off.

what a great series

This was such a great series. The main characters, Vincent and Romeo, are adorable, quirky, and so very likable. The town they live in and the people who live there are hilarious. I have very much enjoyed reading these books. I especially loved the Letters to the Editor portion of each chapter.

The narration by John Solo made a great book even better.
