On today’s episode, a former church member being sued by JP Miller turns the tables on him with a fiery counterclaim. According to court filings, THREE DAYS before Mica’s death, JP asked this church member to write “Dedicated to Mica” on the website of the church’s Dare2Care program, a mission that was important to Mica. Was this unfortunate timing? Or does this point to something more nefarious? The former church member also accuses JP of using his pulpit to shame and bully Mica and of retaliation after the church member and his wife decided they’d had enough of him and left the church. Also on the show, in one of the most deranged calls to 911 yet, JP tells police that protesters are yelling the 'n-word' at church members and could “pull a gun” at any minute and he describes them as blondes, wearing sweaters and no makeup. We'll explore how JP is now suing multiple protesters and online critics for harassment and invasion of privacy, claiming they're causing him emotional and economic harm. But here's the twist: this is the same man accused of stalking his late wife, Mica, who was denied a restraining order against him.... On today’s episode, the LUNASHARK Team received the official coroner’s report in the death of Chris Skinner, the quadriplegic man who drowned in his neighborhood pool shortly after he reportedly confronted his wife, Suzie, and Pastor JP Miller about their alleged affair. Was it an accident, as ruled? Or is there more to the story? We examine discrepancies in the official reports of how Chris ended up in the water... and video footage that suggest it may have been intentional...? Also on the show, an intake form from a family law firm that JP Miller appears to have consulted in February 2024 for representation in his divorce contains some VERY interesting information, including the name of the person who referred him to the firm.     Investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell continue their deep dive into the Mica Francis case in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Today’s episode begins with a clarification concerning Mica’s divorce attorney Regina Ward and the settlement terms reached between JP Miller and Mica’s family this past summer. Also on the show, in a press conference in June 2024, Regina Ward shared a list of abuses that Mica allegedly experienced at the hands of Pastor JP Miller … alleged abuses that mirror a proposed coercive control law that failed three times to make it out of state legislative committee. In that press briefing, Regina said that had this law been enacted before Mica’s death there was a possibility it could have saved her life. Mandy and Liz take another look at the proposed law and a provision that seems like it would have protected JP more than it would have protected Mica. Plus, JP is up to his old antics and has filed 10 new civil lawsuits against an assortment of protesters and content creators. Probably one of the most well researched podcasts

I am thoroughly enjoying this podcast. I can't believe that I was so right about the father. I knew nothing about any of this and said from the beginning that this mystery is a case of familial homicide. Mandy expertly picks apart the investigation at every stage and shows how the police and various agencies failed in each case. I love how she puts it in relative order and places details so we can tie them back mentally to previous clues without needing an intricate clue board to keep up with it.

Now, as for the voice complaints: Mandy is the one that brings my attention to her voice. I did not notice it until she had highlighted those critiques at the beginning of all the episodes thus far. I don't have a problem with her voice, but she does sound disinterested. She brought up the Kardashian reference and I can't "unhear" it. I feel if she would move beyond bringing it up, the critique won't stand out so much. I really enjoy this journalist and feel she will do amazingly large things and be a credit to justice everywhere. Now, POD ON!

Great coverage of the Murdaugh scandals

I live in Savannah and have been following this story since Mallory’s death. Mandy has done a fantastic job covering this case and is a stellar investigative reporter. She’s doing her best adjusting to a medium (podcasting) she probably never expected to be jumping into. She’s not a professional voice actress people. Bless your heart to all the folks giving her a tough time.
