About this listen

A USA TODAY Best-Selling Novel

MacKenzie Cahill has dealt with overbearing and overprotective brothers her entire life, making it near impossible to enjoy her teenage years. Having a boyfriend was practically impossible until she met a guy that wasn't afraid to stand up to them - Dominic. He was sweet, thoughtful, and everything MacKenzie ever wanted in a man. But when they go away to college at Old Dominion University, MacKenzie sees a whole new side of Dominic and begins to wonder if he really is different from every other guy. Her world is turned upside down after a party, and her brothers' best friend Hunter is the one there to offer her a shoulder to cry on. The chemistry between them is electric, and feelings for each other that have been hidden for years are finally voiced. Is Hunter willing to be disloyal to his best friends in order to be with the one girl he's always secretly wanted?

Get a different reader

Reader sounds like someone doing a bad imitation of a little girl. The voice was so annoying, I didn't get past the first chapter

That ending!!

Right from the very beginning, I found myself invested in this story. I wanted to see it through till the end because I needed to know how it would all work out. Suffice it to say, I am starting book 2 NOW.

One thing though...while I absolutely LOVED Hunter, I could not stand Mackenzie at all. She irritated me beyond belief. That said, I still loved her and Hunter’s story and like I said, I am grabbing the next installment.

Overall, a great book, one I definitely recommend!

As for the narrator, well, I am not a fan of Jessica Almasy. I liked her male voices but she made the girls sound like airheads and that drove me bonkers!

Cliffhanger ending

I hate cliffhanger book endings. I don't mind series or continued stories, but this story didn't really wrap up well and left us with a huge cliffhanger. It was like a soap opera with all the drama and childish behavior. I want to know what happens but not enough to listen to another book.

Not Happily Ever After

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would definitely recommend this audiobook to a friend that likes those kind of stories. I don't like reading bad reviews for books. You can understand from the beginning if the story is right for you, if you like it finish it and if you don't let it go and try something else. This one is a simple teenage love story with an AMAZING ending (and the series continues) which keeps your interest up to the end. The characters are young with teenage problems, and suddenly they have to deal with adult problems without being ready to do so.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character was Hunter even though he has many flaws at the beginning. In general I liked all the characters of the book.

What about Jessica Almasy’s performance did you like?

Jessica Almasy has a wonderful voice and fits to the teenager voices she must perform. I liked both the girly voices and the boys' too. She is very good.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Don' t know what to expect...

Any additional comments?

I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts opinions and ratings are my own. I was under no obligation to post a review or give positive feedback.
I hope this review was useful to you and helped your decision to read or not read this book.
Thank you very much Megan Smith and Jessica Almasy for this book.

A bit slow

Moves a bit slow but I really loved the whole cast of characters though I do think some things were left unexplored. narration is done well.

WRF

Hey, Kenzie how about you concentrate on being content alone for agile with yourself instead o needing a guy. God so pathetic, Or I’m just too old to read juvenile MC.She has no self worth needed to stay with guy after finding some girl’s panties on his bed.

Undeniable Connection

I absolutely loved this book. It was captivating from the very beginning. The story started out as your typical teenage girl, falling for her brother's friend, but quickly we learned that these two were not just a short crush. Their love for each other ran deep, and even when the whole world were against them, they found a way back to each other.

Great story

WHAT WAS THAT ENDING!!! AAAARGH! Talk about a cliffhanger... O.M.Geeeeeeee

Kenzie and Hunter were meant to be, THAT was clear to me from the start.
So to read through the parts where she was with Dom was a bit of hardship (though the story was fabulous, I just wanted to get to the good stuff 😛). He was a jerk to her, no doubt about it but, thankfully, he redeemed himself later in the book.

Having overbearing brothers was always going to cause tension and problems between Kenz and Hunter - I just didn't expect it to be so intense. It makes me wonder what else must be going on for them to be so over the top with their protectiveness for her.

Did I see the surprise present coming? Yes, yes I did.
Did I know that Hunter would make things right? I hoped so.
Did I see that ending coming? No, no I didn't - I was too focused on the story to notice the seconds ticking down on the timer!

Jessica did a good job with the narration, though it did feel rushed at some points. A little more difference between the male and female voices would have been helpful (in terms of enjoyment) but otherwise, it was solid.
