Publisher's summary

An Air Force major is ordered to approach a brilliant UFO in his Phantom jet over Tehran. He repeatedly attempts to engage and fire on unusual objects heading right toward his aircraft, but his missile control is locked and disabled. Witnessed from the ground, this dogfight becomes the subject of a secret report by the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency.

In Belgium, an Air Force colonel investigates a series of widespread sightings of unidentified triangular objects, sending F-16s to attempt a closer look. Hundreds of eyewitnesses, including on-duty police officers, file reports about the incident, and a spectacular photograph of an unidentifiable craft is retrieved and analyzed.

Here at home, a retired chief of the Federal Aviation Administration’s Accidents and Investigations Division reveals the agency’s response to a 30-minute encounter between an aircraft and a gigantic UFO over Alaska, which occurred during his watch and is documented on radar.

Now all three of these distinguished men have written breathtaking, firsthand accounts about these extraordinary incidents. They are joined by Air Force generals and a host of high-level sources who have agreed to write their own detailed, personal stories about UFO encounters and investigations for the first time.

They are coming forward now because of Leslie Kean, an investigative reporter who has spent the last 10 years studying the still unexplained UFO phenomenon. Kean reviewed hundreds of government documents, aviation reports, radar data files, and case studies with corroborating physical evidence. With the support of former White House Chief of Staff John Podesta, Kean draws on her research to separate fact from fiction and to lift the veil on decades of U.S. government misinformation. Throughout, she presents irrefutable evidence that unknown flying objects - metallic, luminous, and seemingly able to maneuver in ways that defy the laws of physics - actually exist.

Compelling and meticulous..don’t understand how anyone could be bored! I

Unlike our governments’ ongoing response to the UFO phenomenon this book is measured and thoughtful in its review of case history and analysis of our ineffective approach to the topic. The book, at this time, is a little dated and my great hope is the officials maybe slowly creeping toward more rational and scientific management of the UFOs through programs like ATIP and gradual disclosure of evidence. This book’s tone may have laid the groundwork for a new age of research.

This Book Looks at Facts from Reputable Witnesses

The author interviewed pilots both commercial and military, as well as, police, and government officials. These witnesses to UFO's were from all over the world from Brazil, Peru, US. UK, Spain, Iran, Belgium and point in between. She goes onto show that many witnesses get smirks, or are demeaned for reporting what they say or saw. Especially pilots who lose their jobs if they indicate they saw a UFO. Her point is if so many reputable witnesses claim to have seen UFO's with evidence then why is it not a security threat? It is most likely the most severe threat to the world if these aliens have threatening intentions. Why not really take a global look at this? Many pilots have shot at UFO crafts in the past, yet governments and the media keep it under wraps. If you have interest in this mystery, I recommend this read.

Book intended for non-believers

book was great. most of the stories I've already known but was good to get a bit more insight. I appreciated the author being factual but I would have liked an occasional personal theory on her behalf.

One of my favorite

Wow! This has to be in my top three UFO books of all time. It is compelling and convincing. The reader performance is a professional job. It’s only fault is that it is dull to listen to. The pace is to slow. I found that it helps to bump up the speed to 1.2. It helps but she is still dull to listen to. It is a great book, though.

Over 10 Years Old, but Still Relevant

This book was written over 10 years ago. I'd love to know what Leslie Keen now has to say about the government's recent acknowledgment that UFOs exist, they are physical phenomenon that appear on radar, have been photographed, and have left physical traces.

Very Interesting!

Would you consider the audio edition of UFOs: Generals, Pilots, and Government Officials Go on the Record to be better than the print version?

I did not read the print version so I have no idea if it is better than the print version.

What did you like best about this story?

The author presented convincing cases of evidence that there is something flying around in our atmosphere that we have yet to identify. There is also substantial evidence to show that the US government is one of the least responsive governments in the world when it comes to UFO's. The majority of the book came off as an unbiased presentation of information. However, the last few chapters heavily leaned towards the belief that there are UFO's out there that are not of this planet, which there is no evidence of as presented in this book. I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to anyone interested in the subject. The author clearly has done decades of research before writing the book and it is well worth listening to.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

The narrator was hard to follow at times during some of the interviews because there was no change in tone, pitch or tamber for the different persons quoted in the book.

Well researched, detailed book

Covers most of the well known incidents quite well and added a few new events to go out and research for myself. I know it os difficult but I wish all these type books were read by the author. I believe much of the emotion and intensity of the subject is lost without the original author's inflection. I still highly recommend this book.

What stood out for me was the amount of evidence presented by a wide range of witnesses, who have have integrity.

Great listen! if you want to hear from those who have seen amazing things...they aren't making this up!
