Publisher's summary

Welcome to Valkyrie High School.... Time to Reap My First Soul.

The first law of the Valkyrie is "Don't fall in love." I messed that one up...big time. I failed my sisters and fell in love with William Johnson. I've watched him for three lifetimes and a little piece of me broke every time I had to let him die.

I paid the price for breaking the first law of the Valkyrie. I lost all the memories I had of Will. That's why Sam is keeping tabs on me. She's an ever-present shadow during my time at Mattsfield High. Sam is the perfect Valkyrie. Tall. Beautiful. Heartless.

I may not remember Will, but my heart does. If Freya thinks I’m going to be a good little Valkyrie this time around...she’s wrong.

Valkyrie Landing is the first in the highly-acclaimed series Valkyrie Allegiance. Ideal for listeners of strong heroines, urban fantasy themes, and a heavy dose of Norse Mythology (as well as a spaceship or two). You'll be blown away by this character-driven trilogy that'll take you all the way to Ragnarok, so hang on tight!

This is a complete series scheduled for rapid release, so be sure to follow the author and claim your copy!

Book 1: Valkyrie Landing

Book 2: Valkyrie Rebellion

Book 3: Valkyrie Uprising

Content Warning: This is a clean closed-door romance with lots of shirtless guys.

good listen

I've never read a story where the valkyrie were the main species so I was very intrigued from the beginning on the norse mythology references. There is a girl who is the love child of Freya and Odin, and thus more unique/special then her other valkyrie sisters. Shes got a hot warrior best friend (who is my favorite character in the series) and a sister who attempt to help Val rescue a soul. The soul is actually a previous love of Val's and they kind of know but dont really remember each other because their memories were wiped. I think there is a vague love triangle of sorts but it never actually develops that far yet. Personally I am team Ty! The guy Val falls for isn't written with any personality so its hard to like him. I can see this definitely becoming a plot in the next book.

We still don't know too much about the world of the supernatural as most of this story takes place on earth. There seems to be a war brewing though so I hope we get more insight to the homeland places. I think there are alot of things yet to play out and cant wait to see where this story goes.

So Much Fun!

Valerie has a lot to figure out. She’s a Valkyrie, but she can’t remember her past life. All that she knows is that she is supposed to find out the secret of a human boy named Will.
Unfortunately, nothing is that simple.
Can Val stick to her morals, even when the fate of the universe lies in the balance?
This story falls in the realm of fantasy, science fiction, romance, and adventure in a fun, edge of your seat tale.

An interesting Norse spin but not for everyone

An interesting spin on Norse mythology but just wasn't for me. I was drawn to this book because of my love for mythology books and wanting to try more of Norse influence. I liked the general story plot but struggled to really connect with it. While it does afterexplain, it requires some familiarity with Norse figures and events. I spent the first half trying to decipher who was what but eventually fell into a rhythm. The characters were each given unique personalities but their actions were a bit repetitive, stalling the story. While the ending was exciting, I didn't feel much was accomplished from beginning to end. The narrator captures teenagers well and gave each character an individual and well-suited sound. By the second half, I enjoyed being able to identify who was speaking by their "voice" without waiting to be told by the story. Although it wasn't quite for me, I think readers interested in Norse mythology and a clean YA book would enjoy this.

Easy to listen too and entertaining

I really enjoyed this story. I haven’t read a ton of books about Valkyrie’s so this was a fun change! Really looking forward to the next one!

A new take on the Valkyrie Legend

Set in the future or in the current world where Valerie the daughter of Freya (who at this point is some futuristic cyborg living in space) is sent down to reap a powerful soul of Will Johnson. The only problem is that she falls in love with Will, breaking the first law of the Valkyries. Which could bring down the wrath of the gods, Thor, Odin and her mother Freya....

Most of this book takes place in a present day high school, but it's not really an academy book. I really enjoyed this new take on Norse Mythology and the clean romance. If you loved Marissa Meyer's Lunar Chronicles you will love this cyborg/space/futuristic look at Valkyries.

Love conquers all

I really enjoyed this book and was captivated from the very start. I enjoyed the mesh of myths and sci-fi within the story, which gave it a unique and otherworldly feel. I liked Val's character and felt for her and all she was going through. Definitely a series I would like to continue :)

I received this book in exchange for an honest review, but my thoughts are all my own.

An interesting twist on Norse Mythology.

Reviewer: Teresa Fallen Angel

Summary:
Valerie has no memory of the past ans all she has to go on is the help from her sister Samantha and Tyler. She has been told that her job is to reap the soul of one young man Will. Now Valerie is immediately attracted to Will even though she knows as a Valkyrie the first law is that it is forbidden to love. Valerie deep down inside knows feels there is more going on than she remembers after her memories were wiped after she last failure. Valerie’s desire to prove her worth to her mother is at odds with her need to protect Will against all odds even if it seems impossible.

This was a fast moving and intricate story incorporating many of the old Norse myths into present day situations. It was fascinating how the old gods translated into modern day individuals while maintaining their supernatural flair.

I enjoyed listening to the audio book as the narrator brought each character alive as their story unfolded.

New take on Norse myths

This was a very different take on the Norse myths and characters than I am used to but it was really interesting. I enjoyed this different take on it. This Valkyrie is very different than the ones you know. The different immortals in this series were a lot of fun. The MC is still growing on me but I enjoyed learning about her past and why she didn’t know certain things. The developing relationship was a lot of fun and so was the action. It took a little while to get a lot of the action going since there was some build up. But overall by the end of the book I enjoyed the MC. I am very curious to know will happen next and how Will might change as time goes on and gown the MC might change and grow.
