Publisher's summary

There is a certain cultural affiliation with living on the road that appeals to many Americans and Australians. Whether it is the amount of open spaces upon which to travel in these countries or the wanderlust of spirit, but RV living in the United States and Australia have become exceedingly popular. The problem is that RVs are not inexpensive and while however appealing it is to consider a life on the open road, spending upwards of $80,000 is not an option for most. Van Dwelling and Living off the Grid, the latest book by Stacey Jaiden, hopes to access those feelings and provide an alternative that many not yet have considered: living in a large van.

The idea for this came from reading a book by Albert Bigelow Paine about those who lived in "vans" or covered wagons during the move west, says Jaiden. It sort of resonated with me the concept of living encapsulated in a small space and yet at the same time experiencing more freedom than one could possibly have in a large but stationary space.

Van Dwelling and Living off the Grid walks the listener through the various mechanics of choosing a vehicle, where to find one, how to pick the right one, and how to fit that van with all of the various things that someone will need to live comfortably between stops. It further describes how to find places to park for the night, as well as, how to deal with issues of hygiene while on the open road. Jaiden hopes the book will encourage people to follow their dreams of seeing the country and experiencing the freedom of the open road.

Unremarkable

Not worth the few dollars it cost. Descriptive, but not entertaining. Also, very redundant information at times that is so basic is seems not worth mentioning.

There are many other good books on the subject

Thoroughly unimpressed, the advice was incredibly generic and was sometimes actively bad advice.
I would suggest finding another book oh, probably by another author.

This book is bad. REALLY bad!

This audio book is only 35 minutes and that's probably the best thing about it. It limits the amount of stupidity being read to you.

In it, there are such helpful tips as:
Maintenance of your vehicle: "Of course you are going to need gas and oil." (Duh!)
Insurance: "You may want to shop around to get the best price."
What to bring: "You clearly need plenty of clothing for all your needs." (Oh! Really?)

I think the author (and I use that word generously) must be from the generation who got a trophy just for participating. She brings very little information to the table that a 10 year old hasn't already thought of.

Don't waste your time or your money.

No real substance. Very vague and generalized. I was hoping for more.

Not s book

This title is not a book. Its not even a outline. Its not even a outline for a brochure. Zero effort went into gathering information.

if you are stupid this the book for you

if you have 35 minutes to waste some someone to state the obvious, then this book is for you. I was really looking forward to the topic but this was an unbeleivable let down. I'm even more pissed that I had to wait until the book was over before I could review it. As much as I don't beleive in banning books, there is just some shit that should not pretend to be a book.
