Publisher's summary

With a heart full of dreams, Sallie Coleman leaves Texas and heads west, determined to get as far as possible from the squalor of her dirt-poor beginnings. With its shifting sands, smoky saloons, and bingo palaces, Las Vegas seems like a paradise - a paradise where an extraordinary twist of fate makes Sallie the most powerful businesswoman in Nevada.

Suddenly she is rich. With the help of Philip Thornton, the handsome Bostonian, Sallie is transformed into Vegas' most elegant first lady. Philip gives her two sons, Simon and Ash. One will bring her great joy, the other, heartbreak.

Enter Fanny Logan...the small-town beauty from Pennsylvania who finds her destiny in Las Vegas, where she creates a multi-million dollar clothing empire and finds happiness and heartbreak as the wife of Ash Thornton, and the daughter Sallie never had.

Complications abound: Ash Thornton's life centers around his greatest triumph - Babylon, the magnificent casino that will lead to his downfall. Simon Thornton's search for meaning takes him to the battlefields of World War II to the trading rooms of Wall Street, and finally back to Nevada where he falls in love with the wife of his rival.

One of the Best Books I have ever listened to!!!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, The story draws you in, you can't help but feel for Fanny. It's well narrated with good definition of the characters.

What did you like best about this story?

The evolving of Ash & Fanny's finale.

Any additional comments?

I found it quite hard to have to turn off the book when having to work. Fern Michaels tells a great story & am looking forward to starting the other 2 books of the series. Truly loved the Sisterhood series.

Depressing...

Would you try another book from Fern Michaels and/or Laural Merlington?

Laurel Merlington was great. I Will read another book from Fern Michaels, but not anytime soon.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Something upbeat!

What does Laural Merlington bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Definitely helped keep the characters straight. There are quite a few.

Do you think Vegas Rich needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No.

Any additional comments?

Written well. Great narration. Super depressing story line. Just when you think there is a little light, hope, or even fight coming into the plot, it gets more depressing.

No family could be this dysfunctional

I have always enjoyed Fern Michaels’ books and to some degree I did this one as well. However, I was appalled at the total disregard for anything resembling common sense between the ears of any one of these family members. Disappointing, unbelievable and frankly sad. Too bad.

Sally and Fannie’s legacy

Well written, with unexpected twists and turns, and lots of ups and down. A beautiful story of a family and turmoil, crisis, and ending with so much love for each other.

Get this booK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!! Even though I don't read many books by Fern Michaels, I am so glad I didn't miss this one. I laughed, I cheered, I cried, I got angry, I wanted to get in the pages and interact with the characters. I came to know each one personally and they are difficult to forget.

Reminds me of Molly Brown in a way.

I absolutely loved Vegas Rich! I enjoyed the entire series but this one was the hook that got me. Vegas Rich is earthy, well written, and choked full of the ups and downs of this amazing woman's life. The story takes the main character from dirt poor to somewhat scandalous and then evolves her into a humbled yet bright, courageous woman who faces things down and stares them in the eye! I was a cheerleader all through this book. It's a fun listen with great narration. I'd compare it to a blend of Dallas in early days and the unsinkable Molly Brown. Heck, I may go back and listen again!

It's okay

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Fanny should not have wasted her life on ash

If you’ve listened to books by Fern Michaels before, how does this one compare?

My first book from this author

What does Laural Merlington bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I guess she was okay

Was Vegas Rich worth the listening time?

It was tedious to listen to from about half way

Any additional comments?

I guess the second half was no match for the first half.

Good for mindless listening -- a girl type novel.

The beginning of this novel is awful! The Narrator really makes the main character seem like a dumb blonde. However, as the novel moves on, it has enough interest that I could stay with it when I didn't feel like listening to anything challenging.

Love her novels

When I read her older novels, it makes me wonder why she wrote “the vigilante” books exclusively for SOooo long! The first vigilante books were good, but enough is enough. These books are so much better, and why I fell in love with Fern Michaels books!
