Publisher's summary

Diana Gabaldon's magnificent historical saga, begun with Outlander and Dragonfly in Amber, continues with this New York Times best seller. Set in the intriguing Scotland of 200 years ago, the third installment in the romantic adventures of Jamie and Claire is as compelling as the first. Now that Claire knows Jamie survived the slaughter at Culloden, she is faced with the most difficult decision of her life. She aches to travel back through time again to find the love of her life, but, in order to do that, she must leave their daughter behind. It has been 20 years since she and Jamie were forced to separate. Can she risk everything, maybe even her life, on a gamble that their love has withstood the long, rigorous test of time?

Diana Gabaldon's powerful, witty, and heroic characters lend themselves well to the rich, melodic narration accorded them by Davina Porter. Under her spell, listeners find themselves transported back through time to exciting, faraway places alive with people they would enjoy knowing.

A delightfully intriguing saga

This book was a great listen. The narrator did a wonderful job. The story was a delightfully intriguing saga. I can understand why the books have come to the TV screen. This book was DEFINITELY worth the credit used and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys this genre.

Love this series!

I am re-visiting this series, which I read several years ago (and re-read again), it was fun to just listen this time! At first I had trouble with Davina Porter, she is a good narrator, but her voice was not the voice I imagined for Claire. It was hard to adjust to her, but I did and can't wait to hear her on the next one.

Absolutely wonderful

I’m late to the Outlander party and so much has already been eloquently related by other reviewers. What I can say is, I was hooked by the very first book that I decided would be nice and long for a road trip I was taking. Good Lord, I thought I was going to run off the interstate a few times *wink wink*. The story is incredible with so many twists and turns, and rarely a dull moment. Davina Porter was already one of my favorite narrators, and she has quickly become THE favorite. She IS Claire, for me. I can’t see anyone taking her place. Already starting book 4, “Drums of Autumn”.

Still great

Just finished the 3rd book in this series and I must say, the best part of this whole series is that narration by Davina Porter. She makes EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER come alive. It's amazing how she does so many different dialects, accents, male or female, it doesn't matter. She can do them all. Of course the story is fabulous also.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

If you are a fan of the Outlander series, you have to read this book.

What did you like best about this story?

I like that Jamie and Claire had to get reacquainted. I like that it told the story of what had happened to both Jamie and Claire in the 20 yrs they were apart

What about Davina Porter’s performance did you like?

She does an amazing job with the accents and languages and her voice IS Jamie Fraser.
