Publisher's summary

Girl meets dragon. Girl works to befriend dragon. A large, red, dangerous dragon.

Raven Alby will have to train her new ride and save the dragon’s life or die trying.

Mix in starting at Fowler Academy as a first-year, becoming a stronger mage, and oh...people disappearing.

It's all adding up to typical teenager stuff for a young mage.

The first lesson Raven will learn? Don’t ever let anything come between a girl and her dragon.

Very impressive!!

I tend to follow an author when a set of their books turns out to be great!!
I have to say though that the books that Michael Anderle has written, or is associated with are fantastic!! The storylines are great, and best of all he keeps them coming so you don’t have to wait years for the continuation of the story.
I appreciate the work he does, and all the authors with LMBPN publishing! Please keep doing what your doing!!

it has some wit and overall good

it is a good book the author did some good work and also picked a good narrator. The story lacks in some thought process areas of the MC and supporting dialog in those areas are purposely lacking. that is the way the story was written, thats why it got a 4. it makes the MC seem undeveloped. some would call it stupid but its one book in a series and the focus is on the mc development and has to last the enter book right..... so good not great. if the writing doesn't develop better in book two thats as far as I'll go. but its worth a shot to try the second. redhead chick's on dragons.

poor job of world logic

I had a hard time finishing this because the worldbuilding was terrible. The plot hinges on contradictory and illogical social norms, and many ghings are never clearly explained. The worst thing, however, is how dragons are treated. it drove ne crazy. Dragons are shown to be creatures as intelligent as humans, but are treated like dogs. They need to be led on leashes? Trained like a horse? It defies logic. Either they are dumb animals or people. If there is another rationale, such as they don't understand things the way we do, it ought to be shown. I've read many of the anderle books, but I truly regret spending it on this one.

Unbelievable

We are supposed to believe that an entire culture of Warrior mages on dragon back has been lost in the life span of a high school age girl. No one remembers that they have ever existed and in that same time dragons have gone from fierce creatures to docile beasts that are barely more that wild horses.

Just too hard to suspend the disbelief and like the clueless selfish main character.

Offensive language was not necessary.

The storyline was very good. However, l stopped listening several times because of all the offensive language. Without that, I would have given 5s for all.
