Publisher's summary

What do you crave? For many of us, sugary treats, fatty meals, and high-calorie snacks are impossible to resist. And yet, reaching the bottom of the biscuit tin rarely leaves us feeling satisfied. What if we are actually hungry for something much more fulfilling? In this groundbreaking new book, best-selling author and endocrinologist Deepak Chopra unites the latest scientific and alternative therapy research to reveal how our overeating is often a symptom of "inner starvation" - a hunger for love, self-esteem, happiness, and security. By changing our approach to eating using the tools in this book, we can heal our bodies and minds to achieve permanent weight loss, a longer, happier life, and spiritual well-being. The ultimate guide to inner and outer health, What Are You Hungry For? will change the way you eat forever.

More than losing weight effortlessly.

If you follow these simple instructions you too will lose weight effortlessly. I lost the 10 pounds I’d been wanting to lose with no effort other than eating mindfully. For someone who has always struggled with food addiction it is true I always ate to avoid feeling emotions. This book isn’t just about being mindful about what and how you are eating but being mindful of how you’re feeling. This feels like the missing link I’ve been searching for especially when it comes to quantity eating. Some reviews don’t like Deepak’s monotone voice. Look him up being interviewed. His voice goes with his personality (calm and kind)and to have this book read by anyone would not have the same impact. Follow his simple instructions for 100 days, you won’t feel deprived, and mindful eating will become a habit. One that will change how you feel and think about yourself and about how you eat!

Pretty Good

Had a lot of good information but not particularly inspiring. Basically says to eat well and meditate. There was one exercise about healing bad emotions that I really liked. I don't regret spending money on this book.

So close

From a psychological perspective this book is a 5. When I stopped smoking I thought wow why had hadn’t I heard of these concepts before. Turns out they are widely used in psychology. When I started listening to this book. I found a real connection between what I had read previous and the information provided on Conscious awareness of what we are eating and why. But then the book mentions addictions and smoking (nicotine addiction) Sadly based on the topic in the psychological used in this book they completely mess addiction and nicotine addiction in general I would recommend. Using the same general psychological and hypnotherapy principles to change one’s perspective to stop smoking and lose weight coincides.

Honestly Deepak Chopra I Encourage reevaluate /Rewrite to encompass the psychological – hypnotherapy principles encompassed in the easy way to stop smoking by Allen car when you referenced smoking and addiction in your book.... please read changed my life

Game changer

I have been struggling with food addiction and have read several self help books on food, addiction, and dieting. NONE of them stuck with me. I learned almost nothing from any of them. This is the one book that I’ve read that has spoke to me and helped steer me in the right direction. It is approached, medically, scientifically AND emotionally!! rather than just “you have a mindset that can be improved by just eating healthy, exercising, and writing in journal! Heehee!” Yeah ok I’ll just do that since its SOO easy to knock an ADDICTION and run on a treadmill for 5 hours a day in a room full of sweaty strangers who look at me funny because I’m fat and how dare I disgrace them with my presence. We need more doctors like Chopra and eating disorder rehab centers that don’t cost $10,000 in a disgusting economy to save my life.
If you are struggling with your everything that has to do with your food and weight and self esteem, read/listen to this book. And read/listen to it again. Take just a few notes to remind yourself of this stuff.
Forewarning, the author also narrates. His voice is very monotone, deep, and extremely uninspiring. Listen to it for about an hour or two before you stop listening. It was insufferable for me to listen to it for the first bit but after just a little while it got easier.
Praise the Lord God Jesus Holy Christ for this man. I hope he finds a big pot of gold at the end of a double rainbow and pet a unicorn in the same hour

This book helped

I taught weight loss classes for years, and then I find myself overeating. I knew there was more to it, and I knew there was a psychological part to it. This book explains it all so well, and it works!!!
