Everyone has nightmares. One woman is living hers…

Gilly O’Connell’s nightmares aren’t just bad dreams; they’re glimpses of terrifying realities to come. Gilly has spent her entire life trying to suppress the foreboding visions. So when a dismissed premonition leads to her husband’s murder, she buries the guilt and pain of the unsolved crime in the only way she knows how - she runs from it.

Three years later, after overcoming a battle with addiction and starting over in a small Texas town, Gilly dares to believe the worst is over. That is, until another crime rips her heart open: the abduction of a three-year-old girl. Gilly knows more about it than anyone…

She’s dreaming again.

Gilly is convinced that if she tells the police she dreamed of the kidnapping before it happened, there’s no way they’ll believe her. But when she finally gets the courage to come forward with what she saw, people don’t see her as crazy - they see her as a suspect.

Now, in order to help a desperate single father save his child, Gilly must first clear her own name. But as the nightmares of the past catch up to her, Gilly’s only chance for salvation might be the dreams she’s spent so long trying to ignore.

I Recommend This Mystery!!

I couldn't put it down. It's the first mystery I've heard/read by this author. What a mystery! Pain and tragedy suffered by 3 different people with different ways of coping and managing the outcome. How mentally unstable one can become and the rabbit hole they can choose to follow or not.

The reader was very enjoyable to listen to and was great with the various character voices.

Just way too sliow and repetitive

The story was slow and narration was slow. I listen to one book after another but just couldn’t wait for this to be over. I even sped up narration speed.
Too many scenes didn’t make sense if in real world.

Kinda Lame

Narration was largely fine except for multiple incidents of affect that was not congruent with context.

The story is character driven but they seemed to me to be perfect idiots. The plot connections were not believable. And yet the thing held my interest. I found myself mad at the editor for not doing a better job of helping the author clean up the story. I think it could have been a really good book. The kind that could make an author's career.

What Lies Below

It took a bit for this novel to catch my attention, and even after it did, it couldn't hold me for very long. It took a while to finish, and required quite a suspension of belief, even if disregarding the paranormal aspects of the story. I enjoyed the book enough to possibly check out other offerings by this author if they come my way, but not enough to actively seek out her work.

Gilly is annoying

Gilly is so annoying! I always forget how I add books to my read list. Sometimes it's from friends and other times lists somewhere. I try to read books that the Goodreads community rates almost four stars.

First off I am from Texas but currently don't live there. I am homesick and loved that this book was set in Texas and the accent of the audiobook was spot on. The story was okay as it was to easy to figure out the who just not the why. I felt like the author was confused on what she wanted the story to be about. Was it a mystery or a romance? The romantic parts seemed forced, unsure, and even inappropriate. Like hitting on someone at a funeral.

The ending was no better. But I made it through it.
