Good fences might make for good neighbors, but they make for even better chances to skim money off the top of a wall building budget. When a new and improved border wall is planned for the southern border of Gus’s humble little county; the powers that be task Sheriff Gus with doing everything possible to get that wall money, but at the same time not build that wall. To complete his task, he’ll need to find a cheap source of cement, an economically friendly workforce, and volunteered land to build a test wall on. He needs that test wall to sweeten the pot and prove to the politicians up in the capital that Gus’s little county has what it takes to take their wall money and then run. Things get complicated when a dead man shows up on the border line—half in, and half out of Mexico. Matters get worse when the body turns out to be a murdered government agent who was carrying secret goods. Those secret goods have now disappeared. The goods must have been rather good because everybody and their brother seems to want them. Everyone, that is, but Sheriff Gus. His job is only to find out who murdered who. He’s willing to let the spies handle all the spying, but the spies aren’t so keen on leaving him alone. He’ll have to navigate the world of international underhanded relations in order to rid himself of the whole mess. That means dealing with chain smoking Mexican mobsters, slippery Canadian ambassadors, ethically challenged international hackers, bored border patrol agents, sexy Italian alternative models, closed-lipped American agents, deadly Russian spies, underworld illegal high-flow faucet salesmen, and the hot-headed head of the local PTA.
