Resumen del Editor

The most widely recognized business executive of all time asks the tough questions that America's leaders must address:

  • What is each of us giving back to our country?
  • Do we truly love democracy?
  • Are we too fat and satisfied for our own good?
  • Why is America addicted to oil?
  • Do we really care about our children's futures?
  • Who will save the middle class?

Lee Iacocca believes that leaders are made in times of crisis: such as today. He has known more leaders than almost anybody else, including nine U.S. presidents, many heads of state, CEOs of the nation's top corporations, celebrities, and even a pope, and is uniquely suited to share his wisdom, knowledge, and wit about the leadership of America. Lee Iacocca does not mince words, and in Where Have All the Leaders Gone? he offers his no-nonsense, straight-up assessments of the American politicians most likely to run for president in 2008. He also shares his lessons learned, and issues a call to action to summon Americans back to their roots of hard work, common sense, integrity, generosity, and optimism.

Where have all the leaders gone? Lee Iacocca has the answer.

    Reseñas de la Crítica

"Iacocca rails against the lack of leadership in vital national concerns such as health care, open markets and energy policy....The book's strength lies in Iacocca's emotional honesty." (Publishers Weekly)
"Although Iacocca presents a brutal analysis of cronyism in Washington, D.C., the abysmal situation in Iraq, and failed policies at home, he is not a pessimist. With a reputation as a straight shooter, he hopes to inspire more young people to vote. This is a surprisingly outspoken take on the pressing need for real leadership in this country." (Booklist)

    I loved this book!

I really liked this book. I have always been a fan of Lee Iacocca’s and value his opinions. This book is a wake up to all those who are out there, not voting, not participating in our political system. Lee is not asking you to go along with his opinion, what he is saying is lets make a good choice next time in our Presidential election. Let’s make sure we ask those tuff questions of each Presidential Candidate, hear their detailed plans and get away from just hearing sound bites. I highly recommend this book.

A bit outdated but great knowledge tied to it

I highly re on end this book to anyone who’s an aspiring leader, however, Lee talks a lot about the 2008 elections so it’s a bit outdated but the knowledge and lessons are still there

Good listen after the Bush bashing

I remember thinking in the 1st & then the 2nd chapter): What in the world, this isn't the man I thought I was getting. For some reason I kept listening and finally late in the 2nd/early 3rd chapter, he stopped bashing and started a more positive, helpful, and enlightening message.

My bottom line - if you can just make it through the Bush family bashing; I'm not defending them mind you; it's a very interesting book. The admirable Mr. Iacocca does show through and one can understand how he has achieved his stature as a respected & decisive man.

I'm glad I purchased & listened. While I appreciate his opinion & outspoken voice, his bashing is a little too negatively conveyed for my taste.

How could you not love this??

Conservative or Liberal, old or young I think this book offers plenty for all of to think about.

While you might not agree with the entire book (it'd be shocking if you did), chances are Lee has points that'll make you shake your head in agreement and think about long after reading.

Some good points but alot of just Bush Bashing

I have to say unfortunately I lost a little respect for the man. He was an Icon when I was growning up and was credited with saving many jobs here in michigan not to mention Chrysler. The book while making very good points and asking some of the right questions gets off track at times when he goes on tirades about President George W. Bush. Had he stayed focused I think this book would have received alot more acolateds.

    A Great Leader

This book should be required reading for all Presidential candidates, and for anyone seeking political office. And if anyone doubts the Author's authority to write this book, they should look at Chrysler before he got there and after he left compared to what it was during his leadership. I read his first book 25 years ago and the "fire in the belly", straight-talk that was evident then is still going strong today.
Where are the leaders like Truman, Theodore Roosevelt, or Lincoln when the future of the world is at stake? Do any of the current crop even come close? They should all be required to answer the basic 10 points that Iaocca outlines in Chapter one.
Besides, its fun to listen to.
