Publisher's summary

A paranormal mystery spin-off of the Krewe of Hunters series by bestselling author Heather Graham

When serial killers run rampant across Europe it’s up to Blackbird, the Krewe of Hunters’ international operatives, to stop them.

When darkness falls, there’s nowhere to hide.

Four bodies have been discovered along Europe’s riverbanks, placed with care—and completely drained of blood. Pinpricks on their throats indicate a slender murder weapon, but DNA found in the wounds suggests something far more sinister. Tasked with investigating, the FBI recruits Agents Della Hamilton and Mason Carter to Blackbird, an international offshoot of the Krewe of Hunters. If you want to catch a vampire killer, you need agents who can speak with the dead.

The pair travel to Norway, where the shadowy forests of Lillehammer reveal a gruesome scene. The killer is thirsty for more victims, and the bloodless trail soon leads Della and Mason to a group that believes drinking blood is the key to immortality. To catch the culprit of such an intimate crime, the agents will have to get close. Mason’s already lost one partner; he’s not ready to risk Della as bait. But sometimes justice requires a sacrifice…

Krewe lover

I love the Krewe of Hunters series. However, this one was my least favorite of them. The leading lady didn't need to be so head strong and such a Billy bad ass. With that being said, I love Heather Graham's books, and I will keep buying them. The narration was great.

Great addition to the Krewe

Great storyline. Graham gets better with each new book. The only negative is when the narrator, who’s perfect for the most part, but continues to be waaaaay over the top at times with histrionics and drama particularly with the agents.

Good start

Very nice offshoot of the Krewe of Hunters. It can totally be read as a stand-alone, however. The narrator did a fantastic job with the variety of characters and accents. Definitely easy to follow who was talking.

Blah Blah Blah

I've read over 30 in the Krewe of Hunter series. This one was different- I don't know if it's because it wasn't Luke Daniels narrating or it didn't follow the same "pattern" I'm used to for Graham's books.
It started out with a bang, then became monotonous as Della and Mason TALKED and TALKED about the case and previous cases. I almost turned it off. I kept going, hoping for the best- but there were quite a few monotonous gaps.
It needs more showing and less telling, IMO.

And there was a lot of head-hopping. One minute, we heard Della's thoughts, and then suddenly, we were in Mason's head.

I prefer her earlier books in the series.
