Auntie Donna, an artist who loves to tell stories, uses her inspiration and creativity to create the first story in the Surf Soup series. Auntie Donna wants you to meet everyone and EggOh Too!

EggOh is a part rooster and part peacock, and he has hatched out of his egg, and finds a new friend in Winnie the Pooh, in a chance meeting in the sky. They find themselves floating in the sky together, helping each other out. Winnie the Pooh is scheming to get honey while EggOh just wants to broadcast love. Until a slight explosion happens, and the adventure takes a turn, and Auntie has to “draw” them out of trouble.

An adventure straight out of Auntie Donna’s imagination: Auntie Donna is an animator and wants to start her children’s book series and feels fear and doubt since this is a new space for her; after all, she has made television cartoons for years. As she sits in her art studio creating her stories day after day, she is intimidated to share her stories.

Auntie Donna loves creating her stories and has so many that she just can’t stop playing with her characters (a true story)…until she picks up a favorite childhood book and finds the courage. After reading from the book, she draws inspiration for her character from Winnie the Pooh and starts the long-awaited Surf Soup series. It seems less intimidating to her, so Auntie draws out her adventure, and EggOh wanted to be in her first story. This silly introduction to the series brings out some of the Surf Soup characters to play. This is a a glimpse into the characters and environment of Surf Soup on the tropical island and Surf Soup beach. Introducing Surf Soup stories!

EggOh was created in Auntie Donna's studio when she needed a character to represent Surf Soup on her social media. He was named after the egg he hatched out of, and he always says, "Oh!" So Auntie Donna created her character that had a big ego but he ended up broadcasting love instead, because she felt the world needed a lot of love, but he became so fun to play with, and the muses came, and EggOh was an incidental character to a part of Surf Soup, and so many stories were created around the character EggOh Too!, and he also pushed his way to the front of the series, right up to the front, and another book with Winnie the Pooh and wanted to be first.

How do you pronounce EggOh? It’s “E”, like the letter E...like the word easy. Sounds like the letter E in the word eat. I’m hungry. Then, it’s like the word go! Let’s go! EggOh!

Playing with the words of A. A. Milne and original illustrations of E. H. Shepard, Donna Kay Lau created a fun collaboration to launch Surf Soup series.

Auntie Donna continued writing and drawing, and there are two more books that she created, and still more to come.
