Story
Boudica, second daughter of a Celtic king, has little concern for tribal tensions and political intrigues. Called by the gods and the stirrings of her own wild heart, she listens instead to whispers of the oaks. But Boudica would be wiser to heed the warning cries of eagles. Rumors abound that the Romans are amassing forces for another invasion. In an effort to consolidate power, Boudica’s father turns to Prasutagus, the formidable ruler of the Greater Iceni. To win Prasutagus’s aid, Boudica’s father must strike a bargain - a deal with implications beyond Boudica’s imagining.

Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Publisher's summary
Jael Furyck isn’t happy. Her father is dead. Her uncle has stolen the throne.
And now, her uncle wants to marry her off to the fallen son of her arch-enemy. But Jael is a battle-hardened warrior, trained to kill since she was 10-years-old. She doesn’t plan on being anyone’s wife.
Eadmund Skalleson is drunk. His father is threatening him with a wife again. And this time he’s given him an ultimatum. Marry Jael Furyck or your brother returns from exile. But if Eadmund was ever going to choose a wife, it wouldn’t be Jael Furyck. Not her. Not ever.
Winter’s Fury is the first book in The Furyck Saga, a gripping epic-fantasy series that takes you into a richly woven world of warring kingdoms, mysterious dreamers, dark magic, and an ancient prophecy that emerges from the shadows to weave a dangerous web around them all....

When a banished witch falls in love with the legendary trickster Loki, she risks the wrath of the gods in this moving, subversive debut novel that reimagines Norse mythology. Angrboda’s story begins where most witches' tales end: with a burning. A punishment from Odin for refusing to provide him with knowledge of the future, the fire leaves Angrboda injured and powerless, and she flees into the farthest reaches of a remote forest. There she is found by a man who reveals himself to be Loki, and her initial distrust of him transforms into a deep and abiding love.

Just a child at the time, her only choice was to flee her homeland, or remain among those who’d betrayed their own kind. Only a fortnight separates the young women from becoming reluctant queens of the usurper king, Eoghan Rhiagain. Twenty years earlier, King Eoghan’s father cunningly devised marriages between the highborn sons and daughters of the oft-warring Reaches, sealing the unions before they could protest, shattering existing betrothals in place of forced alliances. Surprisingly… and intriguing … gets better and better
Wasn’t sure what to expect with this 1st book of this Series. Story was very slow to develop, however saw hints of light 2/3 through and became faced paced, exciting, and satisfying but perplexed at the end. Unsure how this saga with unfold… but damn excited to start the next book! Great narrator and amazing performance!

Really Enjoy!
Enjoyed getting to know these characters and excited for the rest of the series. Was a little hard to follow at times as the story does jump around a bit too much for my liking multiple times within each chapter.

Good story. Great narrator.
Good story line, felt unique and not forced. The best best part is narrator Finty Williams. She truly does perform instead of just reading. And it's great news that she narrates all of the books in the series and they've got like 100 hours in the saga.

Not my favorite, but a good listen
I wish there was more of her story and less of his because it was hard to keep up with but it was a good story and i will probably be listening to the next one 😊

Much Better in Audio!
I purchased the whole series on Kindle and just couldn’t get into it. I wanted to, but for some reason the prose didn’t flow in my mind as it should and I gave up reading somewhere around chapter three of the first book.
AUDIO, THOUGH.
It brought the story to life. Perhaps some stories are meant to be told, not read, and this is one of them.
Just bought the next one and am so thrilled the entire series is available. Thank you, Audible!
Narrator is excellent, by the way, and the story is superb. Glad I gave it another chance.
