Publisher's summary

A novel of terrible first impressions, hilarious second chances, and the joy in finding your perfect match from "a true talent" (Emily Henry, #1 New York Times bestselling author).

Dr. Briana Ortiz’s life is seriously flatlining. Her divorce is just about finalized, her brother’s running out of time to find a kidney donor, and that promotion she wants? Oh, that’s probably going to the new man-doctor who’s already registering eighty-friggin’-seven on Briana’s “pain in my ass” scale. But just when all systems are set to hate, Dr. Jacob Maddox completely flips the game . . . by sending Briana a letter.

And it’s a really good letter. Like the kind that proves that Jacob isn’t actually Satan. Worse, he might be this fantastically funny and subversively likeable guy who’s terrible at first impressions. Because suddenly he and Bri are exchanging letters, sharing lunch dates in her “sob closet,” and discussing the merits of freakishly tiny horses. But when Jacob decides to give Briana the best gift imaginable—a kidney for her brother—she wonders just how she can resist this quietly sexy new doctor . . . especially when he calls in a favor she can’t refuse.

Editorial Review

Aprils are for Abby
Abby Jimenez’s novels are always an emotional roller-coaster that leave fans joyful and begging for more. Her latest is no exception. Briana (from Part of Your World) is a take-no-nonsense ER doctor who’s dealing with the fallout of a failed marriage—and her rude new colleague, Jacob. Jacob is at a new hospital where he can’t do anything right and now his cute fellow ER doctor hates him, plus his ex-girlfriend is getting married (to his brother). After he apologizes, Briana agrees to assist him with his brother’s wedding. What ensues is an enemy-to-fake-dating-to-lovers rom-com with secondary characters that, as always, I wish were my friends. Excellently narrated by listener favorites Zachary Webber and Kyla Garcia, Yours Truly has left me wondering one thing: Who will the next book be about? Here’s hoping it's Justin🤞🏽. —Patty R., Audible Editor

A fun listen- maybe could take out some

This was a fun one! I did feel like the repetitive self doubt inner monologue dragged on for far too long -Maybe because I listened to it in 1 day. But with about 2 hours left I was getting irritated. But overall I enjoyed the humor and sincerity of the story.

One of the best romances I have read in a while

This book was so so freaking good. Currently going through a break up and a lot of Briana’s thoughts have been similar to my own in this experience. It really hit home. That said I enjoyed this book even though it made me think. Maybe because it made me think.

Sweet slow burn

This story was heartwarming and touched on many real life issues that people encounter. Anxiety, chronic disease, trauma etc. it’s a slow burn with a lower spice level than most of Abby’s books but it’s a sweet story. Worth a credit for sure

Good but annoying

"Yours Truly" by Abby Jimenez is a novel that rides the wave of emotional highs and lows, seamlessly weaving a heartfelt story that is both compelling and riveting. This is my first encounter with Jimenez's work, and her storytelling prowess makes me eager to experience more.

At the crux of the narrative is an undeniable charm. A tale filled with raw, emotional moments that tug at your heartstrings, compelling characters, and a plot that keeps you yearning for the next chapter. Jimenez crafts a world that is hard not to fall in love with, making the reading experience a delightful journey.

However, the book is not without its share of frustrations. A recurring theme of miscommunication between the main characters, Brianna and Jacob, is a persistent thorn in my side. This aspect of the narrative feels unrealistic and overplayed; these are seasoned medical professionals who presumably are adept at clear and concise communication. The constant misunderstandings feel forced and at times juvenile, so much so that it almost deters me from completing the novel.

Moreover, the characterization seems a bit skewed. Brianna, a woman in her late 30s, often comes across as a petulant teenager, a far cry from the maturity one would expect from a successful adult. On the other hand, Jacob is portrayed as more balanced and mature, which makes for a somewhat discordant dynamic.

Despite these criticisms, I still recommend "Yours Truly" by Abby Jimenez. It is a heartwarming story with a touching narrative that will undoubtedly appeal to many, especially if one can overlook the elements of miscommunication and characterization inconsistencies. For me, the plot's inherent charm outweighs its shortcomings, making it an overall enjoyable read. It is a tale of love, friendship, and personal growth that draws you in and, despite some frustrations, leaves you yearning for more.

Love Shows up

I love Abby’s books and I thought Part of Your World was her best work yet but I was wrong. This one breaks me into so many pieces before I was put together again and the narration really elevates her story telling to a different level. It’s the tender moments and the letters they exchanged that will stay with me forever. She puts so much of her lived experience into her writing that I always know I will get the authentic self. It’s genuinely touching and insightful and one of my top listen for the year.

One of my favorites!

I have to say that the most touching part for me was the author note! I am an organ donor and I wish everyone would be to.
Great story and narration.

It’s a 5 for me dawg!!

I couldn’t wait to listen and not did not disappoint. I loved everything from Chapter 1 to the author’s note. My favorite thing about her books are that the characters seem human and flawed. Not another perfectly chiseled billionaire but better. Taking applications for my Jacob. 🫶.

Brilliant and amazing book

I love Abby writing but this book is just another level. I related so much to Jacob character and love Abby ‘s gentle exploration of very difficult topics with the utmost research, sensitivity, and care.

Plus The characters become your family and you will laugh and cry with them.

Finally the performance of Kyla and Zachary is amazing .

Beautiful Story

I loved this book. There was a lot to unpack but it was so well done. The anxiety and the pains were understandable and felt real. They were managed realistically. It truly was a beautiful love story. The author’s note at the end was touching as well. I wish her the best!
