Publisher's summary

Harry S. Dent Jr., best-selling author of The Demographic Cliff and The Sale of a Lifetime, predicted the populist wave that has driven the Brexit vote, the election of Donald Trump, and other recent shocks around the world. Now he returns with the definitive guide to protect your investments and prosper in the age of the anti-globalist backlash.

The turn of the 2020s will mark an extremely rare convergence of low points for multiple political, economic, and demographic cycles. The result will be a major financial crash and global upheaval that will dwarf the Great Recession of the 2000s - and maybe even the Great Depression of the 1930s. We're facing the onset of what Dent calls "Economic Winter".

In Zero Hour, he and Andrew Pancholi (author of The Market Timing Report newsletter) explain all of these cycles, which influence everything from currency valuations to election returns, from economic growth rates in Asia to birthrates in Europe. You'll learn, for instance:

  • Why the most-hyped technologies of recent years (self-driving cars, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, blockchain) won't pay off until the 2030s
  • Why China may be the biggest bubble in the global economy (and you'd be a fool to invest there)
  • Why you should invest in the health-care and pharmaceutical industries and pull out of real estate and automotive
  • Why putting your faith in gold is a bad idea

Fortunately, Zero Hour includes a range of practical strategies to help you turn the upheaval ahead to your advantage, so your family can be prepared and protected.

Critic reviews

“Harry S. Dent, Jr. is known for his investment-related vision and innovation. He saw the collapse of Japan in 1989 just before it happened and now he sees another major financial and political crisis ahead in the United States. In this book, Harry outlines the great political and financial revolution that is just beginning and traces it back to the birth of democracy. I’m running for governor of Connecticut and plan to be a part of this revolution by showing how to turn around the Constitution State so it can be a model for other states and the U.S. government to follow.” (David Walker, former US comptroller general)

“Harry S. Dent, Jr. is making a credible argument for why this current cycle could turn into a modern day civil war and split the red and blue states - and he sees a similar revolution in many places around the world. Put on your seatbelts! Don’t miss this very factual and controversial book.” (David A. Stockman, author of The Great Deformation)

Outstanding!

Nowhere have I come across such a thorough analysis of the market. Love the comprehensive nature of discussing the ups and downs not only stocks, but housing prices and commodities. A must-read for context on how to proceed in the next financial downturn and how to ultimately relax and enjoy the ride ... profitably!

Too much Self Promotion

The book is solid and worth the listen. In typically Dent fashion too much self promotion in which it makes it a 4 out of 5 star

Missed the mark

This book was written to be a fear pusher. Facts miss the crypto currency revolution.

this is his second book I listen to.

way of on dates, this book proves that you can always find patterns if you look where you want.
where there is summer there will be winter in other part in the world.
thing is he always focus on the winter to prove his point. no matter if its in US, UK ot Thailand.
its just economy, all the cycles and sunspots sounds BS.

A lot of stats to recall almost overwhelming

Harry Dent has provided a tsunami worth of information. Now in middle of 2020 some of his figures are off but are now starting to come into play. The cycles have been off by 1-2 years. Since the bubble was supposed to pop in late 2017 early 2018 and they haven’t yet in mid 2020. But what he presented is coming true today. I thank him and his team for all their hard work and dedication.

Glad I didn’t read this book in 2017

I like the principles in this book. But it is clear that the cycles, in some cases, are not as predictable as indicated. The run has continued into late 2019 while the prediction was to get out in late 2017. Not saying it won’t happen soon but it hasn’t happened yet. It’s also clear that the writers are never trumpers.

Mind Blowing how accurate

It’s crazy how ‘spot on’ Harry Dent was and is , in this book. I bought the audio book a few years ago and decided to re-listen and pretty much every cycle he talked about happened. Even this pandemic (crisis) without knowing there would be a (crisis). I’m now a believer in cycles. The is nothing new under the sun.

Missed the mark

It’s difficult to listen to someone who has missed current economic results so immensely. I know this was probably written several years ago but Dent’s constant reference to the collapse of the economy in 2020 is a bit too much to listen to.
Sun spots need to be our guide to investments?
