About this listen

When Matt logged on to Zombie Wars Online, he expected another fun-filled night of zombie killing with his friends. Under the spell of the Felote, a gaming apparatus that forces the player into a controlled REM sleep, reality faded away, and a new life began. It was the perfect escape from the harshness of everyday life. But when a malicious hacker takes control of the game, a new nightmare begins, far worse than Matt and his friends could have ever imagined.

Trapped inside of the game, the players are confronted with real life-and-death situations. If you die in the game, you die in real life.

Zombie Wars Online combines the best parts of horror and gaming in an ever-changing world. This novel was originally serialized and contains episodes one through six of the original series.

Content warning: Due to adult language, violent content, and a very vivid sex scene, this audiobook is not recommended for anyone under the age of 18.

Zombie Bore

The idea of a zombie apocalypse that begins with a game that everyone plays for fun appealed to me. You can socialize, go on missions, fight zombies, and make new friends, but if you die, you're returned to a neutral area where you can gather yourself and try again. Until the hacker changes the rules.

The story was interesting up until the main character's graphically detailed gay rape scene.
It appears that the author was rushing the story's conclusion. Characters are killed off quickly, and the story ends horribly with no details on the hacker.
It had the potential to be good.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Could of been great

Story was good until the graphic detail gay rape scene of the main character.
After it seem the author was just hurrying the story to end. Quickly killing off characters, and ending it horribly.
It could of been great.

Should be a movie!

Didn't expect much since the entire series is only 6 hours long but it was an awesome story especially if you like SAO. THAT SCENE was a bit too much for me but the story was definitely worth getting past that part. Wish there was more ZWO books but I am happy with what I read 🙂

Smut killed what COULD have been a great book.

Let me begin this review by saying I received a free promo code for this audiobook and I am leaving an honestly review at my own choice.

I was under the belief that this was just a horror book.

The description of this book sounded outstanding, but repeatedly left me wondering why half the book was not even about Zombies. Instead it was constantly throwing in unnecessary sexual scenes including Hints of Pedophilia and a Detailed Homosexual Rape scene (Completely disturbing I skipped this chapter) Non of these added anything valuable to the plot. It seemed everytime the plot furthers and actually sounds good then the author has to throw in something sexual. Why are you trying to turn a horror book into Erotica? Google says Zombie Wars Online is a horror fiction and hard science fiction book. If this was not a free copy I would have refunded this.

I have to say that the book did catch my attention at first. If the plot only focused on the game and surviving and not on turning it into some teen drama it could have been great! There was so much potential only for it to fall short.

The ending was extremely rushed, it felt like the entire plot was a build up to the Rape scene and after that the author just tried to wrap it up. Barely touched base on the hacker. Who or WHY this person or group of people did this. Certain characters could have used more character development. Overall I was disappointed but I pushed myself through the entire audiobook.
