168. Keeping The Secrets Of Childhood Trauma

  • Summary

  • On The HEAL BLOG this week don't miss 8 Crucial Reasons You Should Take A Mental Health Day

Barbara Lane believes the most important factor to the continuation of child abuse, is secrecy. From a very young age we are taught to keep secrets. We are silenced and we are shamed. It is generational. Barbara’s story is extraordinary and she is determined to tell it so that others might have a different experience. One of eleven sisters, Barbara’s mom simply walked out one day and never came back. Barbara was three years old and she remembers the love and deep care her sisters gave her in the orphanage. She remembered that love and care throughout all the years she lived in a foster home filled with abuse and despair. You can find Barbara at her website Barbara's book Broken Water is available here
