208: Negotiating Past PTSD

  • Summary

  • One woman's journey from the dark shadows of PTSD to the empowering light of self-discovery shines as a beacon of hope in a world where silence often conceals deep pain. We will explore "Negotiating Past PTSD" in this episode. Join us as we step into the transformative narrative of Peggy Onlock, guided by the insightful questioning of our host, Cindy Watson. This is more than just a conversation—it's a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the power of community in overcoming adversity.

Peggy was born in Toronto and has spent most of her life there. She has a background in financial services and also worked as a civilian in a policing organization. Both professions encouraged structure, logic, and hiding one's feelings and emotions. Peggy, herself, prefers privacy when it comes to many details of her life. Post-traumatic stress reared it's ugly head in her forties, and she was forced to address some of the events that impacted her life. She has been involved with Women on Purpose for several years now and has found it invaluable in finding her self-worth and the importance of her story.

In this episode, you will learn:

    • What are the certain aspects of PTSD are misunderstood

    • Advice to listeners who may be suffering from PTSD
