  • 40's on the 80's - Review of the film "Predator"
    Aug 15 2024

"Well, long-tall Sally, she's built for speed, she got EVERYTHING that Uncle John need!"

Better not call Chris Hansen on THIS predator..... and even though there is something strange in this neighborhood (jungle), something strange and it don't look good.... I wouldn't recommend calling the Ghostbusters either!

Only one team, with one goal.... and one man.... can defeat the thermal vision. HEY!!!!! That's right, Arnold Schwarzenegger goes 'Mano e Monster' in this 1987 John McTiernan classic and leads a (mostly) all-star cast of camoflaged machismo. How many times hav Mac and Dennis watched this film? Does it come close to the amount of times we've watched it? We'll take that trivia challenge any day of the week and we hope that you'll give us a listen. Decide for yourselves if we are actually fans or just low-rate pod casters who only watched this film for the first time yesterday and today recorded a podcast.

So.... this is getting better by the minute, charge up your mini-guns and grab some chewing tobacco as we venture into some of the baddest bush on the planet! (Much like 1970's adult film actors).

    "A very SPECIAL episode"

Several 'firsts' happening on this recording! It's the first time hearing our future anchor/cast member, Rick Baldwin (check out his blogs on our page). It's also the first airing of the format we hit upon where we began breaking films down into their 3-act structure. After several recordings we felt that we firing blind, into the jungle at night.... the act structure helped us to stay a bit more organized.

This particular episode touches on subjects which are very real and sometimes 'sensitive' to veterans. Parts felt more like a therapy session than simply a fun discussion about a great film. For that reason, this is a longer episode which we hope you will ride along to its destination.

We would love to hear from YOU! Let us know if there are any favorite films from the 80s you would like to hear us analyze.

  • 40's on the 80's - Review of the film "American Werewolf in London"
    Aug 1 2024

Once again joined by Rob.... we explore the English country side with a splash of horror which directly led to Michael Jackson's iconic music video for 'Thriller.' Direced by John Landis, this film showed us what it might really look like to transform into a werewolf while having zombie ghosts torment you periodically. This was prosthetic-practical effects taking center stage despite some amazing performances from all the actors. Dan is KEEN to educate us on all things English and explain to us 'Mericans what is legit and what isn't.
