65. Overcoming Extreme Challenges Through Faith: An Interview with Holly Porter

  • Summary

  • As anyone suffering with post concussion symptoms knows, life can throw unexpected curveballs. My guest today has not experienced concussion specifically, but does have some very real experience with those curveballs of life. Holly Porter has been through her fair share of challenges which she shares with audiences around the world. She has encountered illnesses, severe injuries, losing her home to a fire, and recently the heartbreak of losing her youngest son. Through it all, she never gives up and continues to have faith. She loves to help others find hope and strength to "keep on trekking" through whatever life is throwing your way. She feels that even in the toughest challenges, peace, strength, and hope are just a prayer away.

Here is the content of the facebook post she references at the end:

Last night I lost 1 of my 6 eternal best freinds. My baby brother treysen porter suffered an accident and reunited with our father in heaven Treysen was the greatest example of jesus christ to me. He always put people first. He always made sure everyone was okay and did everything in his power to make people happy. If someone was sad he would cheer then up. Right before my mission my mom Holly Long Porter asked me to take him on an "adventure". And if I'm being honest I did not really want to, I just wanted to relax. I am so grateful I humbly took him to get pizza, and we went out to antelope Island in my native, northern Utah. We had so much fun listening to music and talking, then we got out and watched the stars. On the way back we took pictures of my truck and he was so happy. I will never forget his simple bit beautiful smile. I am so grateful for this experience, and for the brother treysen porter was to me. This will forever be my last experience with my baby brother in this stage of God's plan. But luckily with the knowledge of God's perfect plan for us l, I know with a surity I will see my brother treysen again someday. The last 2 pictures are me holding his football number in front of the Mesa AZ temple. And I had so much peace knowing that we will be together again someday. And that families can truly be together forever. You guys please, please give your family a hug tonight. Tell them you love them. Life is to short to hold grudges. Life is to short to be taken for granted. Tomorrow is not guaranteed. Please tell everyone you around them that you love them you never know when it will be the last! Let us all "serve as trey would" and continue to treat people as he did. I love you all so much. And treysen thank you for being the best example to me, I look up to you forever. GOD BE WITH YOU UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN
