    Said in very British voice: ‘where has that time gone?!’ We are already half way through the year and checking in on our 2024 beer goals.

    We both think we’ve done alright so far, Tori is working on hard mode (obvs) while Jo is reviewing and refining her goals – mid year is the best time for this! We also look at how far we’ve got with our Drink Harder challenge and, once again, debate what constitutes a dive bar!

    Tori lets us in on her data collection for the year so far and Jo shares the beginnings of her beer journal. We’ll also see which were the top episodes of the quarter.

    This week, we're diving into the challenges and opportunities for women in the beer industry and community with the thought-provoking findings from The Gender Pint Gap: Revisited report by Dea Latis. Using the report as a starting point, we'll explore the ten challenges and nine opportunities it highlights, addressing critical aspects such as the need for gender-neutral marketing, inclusive spaces, and better representation in mainstream advertising. We'll share personal anecdotes and our thoughts on the opportunities outlined in the report, like promoting premium beer, emphasizing taste over price, and introducing low or no-alcohol options. Additionally, we'll touch on how these changes can cater to different age groups and demographics while creating education and career opportunities in the industry. We discuss the societal norms and constraints that influence women's attitudes toward beer, the physical and psychological impacts they face, and the necessity for businesses to make ground-level changes to support inclusivity. We trace the historical roots of the DAB Brewery, unfolding its journey through the technological revolution of refrigeration in the late 19th century, its resilience post-World War II, and its eventual mergers with prominent brewing groups. We'll delve into how Dortmunder Export became a significant component of German beer sales and the intriguing sulfuric notes that define this beer style.
