    The Personal Growth Dilemma

We are personal growth fans. We believe now more than ever that personal growth is vital for Christian leaders. The problem some believers find in some personal growth practices and advice is that some of the methods in personal growth circles run contrary to Scripture.

The “believe in yourself and accomplish your dreams” is probably one of the top, if not the top, supreme laws of personal growth. So why do we as believers struggle with this? Because we all know ourselves. We know, as followers of Christ, that the amount of belief in ourselves is not where the real power comes from. Our belief in Christ is where power and growth comes from.

Join Kyle and Cassie as they unpack the need for personal growth and how Christian leaders can filter personal growth methods through Scripture. You do not have to face a personal growth dilemma and God can use personal growth strategies for your good and His glory!

  • 14. Letting Go of Control: Stop White Knuckling Your Life
    Apr 5 2021

Lets be honest… one of the most frustrating responses in all of Christendom is when a well-meaning soul gives you the advice “you just need to give it to God” when you reveal to them that you have anxiety or worry about something that is happening or has happened.

They mean well… they really do, but when you are in the thick of it, that piece of advice feels so dismissive. Although, it is the right advice, often we do not have the biblical steps to actually release control of our fears and anxiety.

In this episode Kyle and Cassie discuss how to stop white knuckling your life by actually taking practical steps of releasing control of your situation. Kyle and Cassie discuss:

    -Abiding with God
-Seeing His faithfulness in our past to help with our present situation.
-Discovering the attributes of God in His leading
-Walking in the promises of God

All these steps and more is what awaits in this episode as Kyle and Cassie unpak what it looks like to get off the rollercoaster of worry while securing our hope on the solid foundation of God’s desire to seek your good in all things.

There are three main factors discussed:

    1. Identity

    2. Performance Idol

    3. Comparison Trap

    and much more!

  • 12. Redefining Success
    Mar 22 2021

On this episode of Bread and Wine, Kyle and Cassidy discuss social media and how it can be a wonderful tool. However, it has redefined, revalued, and replaced our idea of success. We have a whole generation now that does not feel like they matter unless they have so many “likes” “comments” and “shares.” We chase after followers not friends and let our social media statistics be the gage of our value. The Raneys unpack:

    - How to redeem social media

    - What is our ultimate goal

    - How to redefine success

  • 11. Holy Unrest: When Gratitude and Goals Collide
    Mar 15 2021

Welcome Back to season 2 of Bread and Wine, we are thrilled that you have joined us...

This season we want to focus on faith-centered personal growth...tackling some topics pertaining to mindset, purpose, goal setting, making a significant impact, feeling like you have value and are enough…

We are well into 2021 and hopefully the goals or resolutions you put out there at the beginning of the year are at least somewhat still in frame….

As Christians, we tend to struggle with our ambitions and goal setting. Proverbs 16:9 says that man can make his plans but God directs his steps. This leads us to believe wrongly that we are to not have goals and settle for whatever life throws at us….

The lies we believe about goal setting often are:
-fear of getting ahead of the Lord

    -are we being selfish?

    - we aren’t trusting God if we set goals.

    - we may go outside of His will if we set a goal … the lies go on and on.

Join us today on Bread and Wine to walk through the Holy Unrest: When Gratitude and Goals Collide.

  • 10. Politics and Jesus: Citizens of Heaven
    Nov 2 2020

Tomorrow is Election Day! Half of the country will either be celebrating answered prayers and the other half is mourning from unanswered prayers.

Today, Kyle Raney will give us all some encouragement today through this faith-filled episode.

First and foremost Kyle reminds us that we are citizens of Heaven; our allegiance is in Jesus.  Our demeanor and our politics have to be informed through Christ by prayer and knowing our citizenship.  Kyle brings so many golden nuggets of truth in this episode including:

    • Engaging in our citizenship in America has to be informed by our citizenship from Heaven.

    • We have more in common with someone in the opposite party who is a fellow Citizen of Heaven than a person within your own party.

    • As Believers, we have the GOOD NEWS to share- not bitterness or separation.

    • When we idolize someone or a political party or organization more than Jesus, then we will ultimately demonize those on the other side.

    • When we idolize, we will ultimately be disappointed.

    • Separation from culture is not the answer, nor is becoming like the culture.

    • Us vs. Them Mentally is against the Word of God (Jeremiah 29:4-7)

    • DISTINCT yourself in the culture

    • Instead of opposition, GRAND OPPORTUNITY

Though the next 48 hours may be interesting, be reminded of this amazing gift we have to live in this country and share the Gospel. We appreciate you listening and would love for you to subscribe and share the podcast with others.

  • 9. Politics and Jesus: God and Country
    Oct 26 2020

Politics and Jesus: the two things your mama said to never talk about.

The Raneys have lived in two very different places and political environments...which has brought both sides of social mechanisms to full awareness and perspective by listening.

We at Bread & Wine community come from various perspectives. We are not here to tell you how to vote.

    God and Political Structures

     1) God’s sovereignty does not lessen during an election year.

     2) God’s authority is not thwarted in an election year.

    3) Government is accountable to God.

    The Church and Politics

    1) We have lost the ability to disagree in a Christ-centered, God-honoring manner.

    2) We should be passionate about political issues and platforms, but the gospel message should be our prime talking point.

    3) Our faith should inform our politics, not our politics inform our faith.
