Captain james Bell and Captain William Bell were identical twin brothers born in North Carolina who moved to Fernandina beach, working as River Pilots who helped shape the iconic look of Amelia Island's homes. Together, they built over one dozen homes, nine of which still stand today, including the infamous Captains House, also known as Villa Villekulla, the home for Pippi Longstocking in the 1988 film, The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking.
