Charles Romley Alder Wright: A chemist who inadvertently laid the foundation for the opioid crisis, Wright first synthesized diacetylmorphine in an attempt to create a less addictive form of morphine. Little did he know, his invention would later become commercially known as heroin, heralded as a wonder drug before its profound addictive properties became known, leading to widespread misuse and suffering.

James Warren Jones: The charismatic leader of the Peoples Temple, known for promoting social equality and racial integration. However, Jones's story darkens considerably as he led his followers into the tragedy of Jonestown, culminating in the mass murder-suicide of over 900 people.
