Arts of Devilry

  • Summary

  • Welcome to Arts of Devilry; A podcast of the Macabre! Join your host Connor and various special guests as they explore, dissect and discuss all manner of twisted, cursed and controversial content from the world of the arts (but let's be honest mostly film & television). The sweet-spot for our pop-cultural sights are those works of strange fiction whose real-world origins and creative processes threaten to somehow prove even stranger! Connor has booted up the projector reel, strapped his guests into their chairs with surgical restraints and clamped open their eyelids. Let the strange content flow!

  • Episode 5: Ghostwatch (1992)
    May 23 2022
On Halloween night 1992 Michael Parkinson hosted a show called Ghostwatch, which styled itself as a live broadcast and claimed to be a genuine investigation into the paranormal. It was of course a scripted, pre-recorded drama but many of the 11 millions viewers that tuned in to watch were left confused and genuinely scared by what they had just seen. I'm joined by Thom Peart to discuss its lasting impact and unique place in the history of broadcast television in the UK.

  • Bonus Episode: Bits from the Cutting Room Floor of 'Green Room' (2015)
    May 19 2022
Our recording for the Green Room episode ran very long and there were some bits that I had to cut for time that I thought were quite enjoyable. Or maybe not. You decide!
