We talk about how many people seem to desire an authoritarian leader. There is a need for order and security, and no one seems to realize that the punishments of such authoritarian leaders may fall on them.

We talk with Gregg Gonsalves, Co-Director of the Global Health Justice Partnership.
We discuss JD Vance, and his book which blames the opioid crisis completely on the victims themselves. It should be noted that while Ohio has a huge opioid crisis, Vance helped no one, despite his "Our Ohio Renewal" charity, whose funds went to pay consultant who later became his campaign manager. Structural changes are needed to solve this problem.
    Part 2:
We talk with Steve Paikin, host of The Agenda, which airs on Canadian television.

This is a panel discussion with many topics:
Bob Hennelly noted that the GOP convention has been militarized, and the venue appear to be an armed camp.
We proceed to a general discussion of the GOP convention, and that no one seems to be doing any fact checking. This is the responsibility of the news organizations, who are NOT doing their jobs.
We also discuss the problems in the US, which are not addressed in any of the platform statements. The lack of affordable housing
Demographics are showing an economic decline, which can only be stemmed by immigrants, since the US population is getting older.
Insurance costs are rising, much of it due to the climate issues, which cause many disasters.

    Part 1:
We talk with Chris Tomlinson, of the Houston Chronicle.
We discuss the power failures in Houston, due to the Cat 1 hurricane Beryl. We discuss how ill prepared Centerpoint Energy and the state was for this event. There seems to be no accountability for anyone concerned: the utility, governor, Lt. governor. Current heat index is 106 degrees F.
    Part 2:
We talk with Amy Littlefield, abortion access correspondent for The Nation, and with Bill Curry, two time candidate for governor of Connecticut.
We discuss JB Vance's speech before the RNC. This appears to be a repackaging of the GOP as 'kinder and gentler'. However, the language used describes more restrictions on personal autonomy, and restrictions on physical travel for women. Vance wants to be perceived as "pro-worker" though he is definitely supported by billionaires that would like to eliminate all unions.

We preface our main program with Bob Hennelly's commentary on the RNC Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Hennelly has been watching and listening to the speeches. He finds that the Republican party apparently trying to rebrand itself as the people's party or the workingmens. Party. This is a bit disingenuous, considering its connections the the major anit-unionists. A homeless man was shot and killed in Milwaukee by two police officers who had been brought in from Columbus, Ohio. The shooting occurred at least a mile away from the convention venue. The National Security Apparatus is apparently too incompetent to protect Trump, but competent to shoot others. The downtown in Milwaukee is basically an armed camp and a militarized zone. There is no foot traffic, and no businesses appear to be profiting from the influx of new customers due to the convention.

    Part 1:

We talk with Phoebe Petrovic, a writer for Propublica about how the radical right is influencing/ taking over the Republicans. White christian nationalism is important to them. They have used the excuse that they are defeating 'demons' when attacking Democrats and liberals. Ignoring laws and courts is now the preferred method of attack. A strategy that has been effective for them is the “swing counties” strategy. By dominating counties, they are able to effect the changes that they want.

    Part 2:

We talk with Luke Goldstein, writing fellow at the American Prospect. We discuss the Biden opponents in the Democratic party, and how they are debating and pushing back on the 'virtual roll call' , which is designed to stifle discussion and opposition to Biden's candidacy.
