  • Behold: A Christmas Series (Jono Mulholland)
    Dec 5 2023

    How do we wait?

Derived from the Latin word "adventus," meaning "coming" or "arrival," Advent symbolises the anticipation and preparation for the arrival of Jesus Christ.

As we engage in prayer, reflection, and acts of kindness during the lead up to Christmas, we strive to cultivate a spirit of expectancy and spiritual readiness, not only for the celebration of Christ's birth but also for the hope of His eventual return. Advent is a meaningful and reflective time of hope, peace, and joy as we await the arrival of the Saviour.

    "Living Out Gospel Hope"

This year, we have worked our way through 1 Corinthians, with this being the final sermon in the Guts & Glory series. It is a letter that is very personal, challenging and almost a bit like displaying your own dirty laundry. Yet throughout the letter we get this repeated sense that God is at work in the mess. That God wants us to have access to this letter in Holy Scripture is a reminder that the Gospel is for real people in real chaos.

Into the Corinthian chaos, the light of the Gospel brings hope, healing and a clear path forward. In our own messy lives the Gospel has the potential to bring hope if we will learn and apply the lessons God is teaching in this wonderful letter. Let's learn to live out the gospel with Guts and Glory this year!

  • An Unlikely Hero - Elisha: II Kings 6:8-23 (Jono Mulholland)
    Oct 10 2023

Sometimes we can think about the stories of the Old Testament and they feel alien, unreal and disconnected from our lives. The reality is that they communicate universal truths with deep resonances.

Every passage of scripture has one clear aim: to reveal God. The 4000 year old stories of the Judges are recorded in scripture, under divine guidance, to show us what God is like and as a clear corollary to reveal what we are like. We will find people in these stories who wrestle with the same doubt, fear and anxiety that we find today. And we will meet a God who has compassion on his people and comes to rescue them.

And that rescue is effected through a series of unlikely heroes.
