Jesus was the word that became flesh and dwelt among them (Jn. 1:14). "Blessed" in the Greek is Makarios which means "to be fully satisfied". It does not mean happy as happy is dependent upon happenings or circumstances. "Blessed" is related to joy which is not dependent upon circumstances. Joy is a result of faith in the midst of trials (James 1:2). Faith that comes by hearing the word of God (Rom. 10:17).
