Bee Educated On This Fresh Foodie Trail

  • Summary

  • To support bee education and sustainability, Visit Mesa is sponsoring two beehives at Freeman Farms. The Fresh Foodie Trail®, an interconnected series of culinary experiences at local farms, threads tourists through Mesa and into the nearby cities of Queen Creek and Gilbert. Since honeybees pollinate thousands of plant, tree, and flower species and help sustain us through a variety of food sources, they are crucial to the biodiversity and sustainability of the planet.

In order to create an environmental education opportunity for visitors to understand more about the importance of bees, Visit Mesa has partnered with the international company Alvéole. Using their global platform and beekeeping services will enable ecological preservation. The collaboration in this project is centered on sustainability and ways that each individual can help save urban bee colonies.

Although guests are not permitted access to the bee hives, they can geocache on the farm property as part of Visit Mesa's Fresh Foodie Trail Geo Tour. The bee hives are situated at Freeman Farms. The geo tour connects tourists to farms and gastronomic attractions in Mesa and the surrounding area with more than 10 stops overall. Each farm is represented by a unique collectible sticker.
