  • 009: There Are No Disabled Souls
    Jun 24 2024

Welcome to Episode 9 of the "Beyond the Pulpit" podcast! Join hosts Pastors Jon and Andrea Schwartz as they have a conversation with Joe Butler, founder of Ability Tree.

Life Church has partnered with Ability Tree to support the launch of a new ministry under the Next Gen umbrella called MVP (Most Valuable Person). Joe and the team have been on site with us helping to inform, equip, and train our volunteers to make Life Church a place where we can walk alongside families impacted by disability. Joe and his wife Jen founded Ability Tree in 2010 making it their mission to come alongside families impacted by disability to provide R.E.S.T. (Recreation, Education, Support, & Training). When Joe and Jen's son, Micah, was diagnosed with multiple disabilities, they recognized the profound necessity for supporting families affected by disability. Motivated to foster community inclusion and make Jesus accessible to people across the country, Ability Tree was planted.

Join us as Pastors Jon and Andrea talk candidly with Joe about how his family's own story of pain and hardship was the catalyst that revealed their greatest passion. At the heart of their story, Joe talks about how God revealed that although Micah's mind and body may be "disabled", that his soul is rich with spiritual gifts!
