And what’s the purpose of regularly reciting a short prayer like this one? In this episode, Jon, Tim, and others kick off a five-part series on the Lord’s Prayer, exploring its structure, core ideas, and historical background. • Jesus’ Surprising Warning About Religious Practices
    Apr 29 2024

Sermon on the Mount E18 – In Matthew 6, Jesus turns his attention to religious practices of his day, specifically generosity to the poor, prayer, and fasting. But Jesus gives a surprising warning about these practices: if you do religious practices to get praise from people, then you're missing the point. In this episode, Jon and Tim discuss these three religious practices and reflect on the pitfalls of making religious devotion about yourself.

Extremely interesting on-site

The concept of first born and the cultural basis behind it is fascinating and pertinent to our finding human’s place in YHWH’s creation.

So much valuable insight

I love the indepth explanations, cultural background, language interpretation, how the small stories connect to the large stories, the meaning within. i listen to these podcasts over and over (fall asleep and wake up to them) and the sermons and youtubes. I dedicated one bible to being a colorful workbook of these lessons which helps me immensely with my other bible studies.
I'm very thankful for all your work and dedication to bring us all to a better understanding of God's word.

HONEST, UPLIFTING, INFORMATIVE

They manage to provide a deeper understanding than any sermon or conversation I've had. Connecting themes, explaining literary styles, providing context... these men have succeeded in breaking down the Bible from an oversized task... to a deeper understanding of God's word and all the brilliance hidden throughout. They are truly doing what they are meant to do!

Unbelievably inspiring

You don't even have to be a believer to enjoy this podcast. However the fascinating depth of the explanations and exploration of the holy bible might just make one out of you.
