  • We are starting our look into the 1980s! This week, Megan reviews Bosom Buddies. She was particularly surprised to learn that the show was not a TV rip-off of the Oscar-award winning film, Tootsie.

    Bosom Buddies was an American television sitcom starring Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari. It aired on Thursday nights for two seasons on ABC from 1980-1982 and in reruns on NBC in 1984 after Tom Hanks appeared in Splash. The show features the misadventures of two single men, struggling with low-level careers in advertising. After their apartment is demolished, they disguise themselves as women in order to live in the place they can afford... a complex where no men are allowed!

    The show became known for its quirky humor and its frequent use of improvisation. Though the show started out with good ratings, it failed to hold the public's interest and was canceled after two seasons.
